Finally... about time I share a few photos of my finished build
My build consists of:
* Pete Millett's PCB
* RCA inputs, volume pot, headphone jack and power switch - all mounted off-PCB
* Artemis Linear PSU (designed by @gaz2613 - see post #489 on this thread)
* Custom case

I recently built this amp and experimented with a couple of single opamps I had in my possession.

I tried OPA2209 ( good details and faster than stock but quite edgy and noisy). AD797 ( very quiet background, good details especially in the lower end however it’s not unity gain stable. It’s most probably oscillating as it heats up quite a bit). I got the Sparkos Ss3601 singles after reading a post on this thread and they are quite good. The extension on either side is very good. The amp sounds faster and there more details and separation.
Last week at a Audio meet up I carried this amp along with my Cayin iHA-6. We connected a Audio Note DAC 0.1x to the Nutube and fed the pre out to the iHA-6. Listening on my LCD-X and the demo Meze Empyrean and HD800 available there at the meet up, the synergy was so beautiful. The sweetness of the DAC was just flowing through to the drivers. Amazing micro details and a lush 3D soundscape. When we took the Nutube out of the chain and fed the DAC directly to the Cayin the whole magic disappeared. There was no 3D enveloping sound stage, the vertical stage and layering between the instruments disappeared. The details were still there but the sweetness disappeared. Maybe there was a impedance mismatch between the DAC and the Cayin.

I am not a electronics guy. Just someone who can solder by numbers. Can any of you more experienced guys tell me what is the input impedance of this amp. The guy who had got the Audio Note DAC to the meet is Aernoud Dekker, the India CEO of Audio Note and he has been asking me about this ever since. Such has been the effect of this little guy.

May be an unusual comparison but has anyone compared this to the portable kit nutube that Pete offers (Nu:tekt)? I may just end up building both

Just finished my NuHybrid build. Been listening for about an hour or two, the sound does change with burn in. Sounds quite nice with HD600, feeding it with Dacmagic. i hope it wil open up a bit after about 50hrs. The plan is to install it into enclosure. Lol the volume pot reminds me of "the war of the worlds" movie

Waiting for Dact type 21 volume pot to arrive to test it out. Curious about opamp rolling and those R8 R9 resistor swaps...
I like how it sounds, I know it has good resolution when changing Dacmagic filters makes obvious audible difference. My little dot mkii is not that obvious.

Added VU meters really liking how full and at same time delicate and holographic it sounds. I wonder how the Millett Sangaku or the "ballanced differential" sounds. Does it still retain the NuTubes sound or it's more solid statey?
On a side note, I cant bias lower than 9.8v
Would of liked to see how low I can go what can I do to let me bias lower?

Well, here is what my project ended up looking like. I installed a dact type 21 clone volume pot from ebay, but it made the sound too "tini" or thin, very V type EQ, going back to stock volume pot, as I like the more midrangy, thicker and smoother sound.

That looks great! I just pulled mine out to use as a Roon endpoint with a Raspberry Pi. I forget how good it sounds for the cost.

I just replacead dact 21 type Volume pot to the stock volume pot, and replaced 551 with OPA827 from cimaron with adapter. and ofcourse i soldered that tini shht myself. and wow, what i like originaly about it is back and more of it.. but somehow the music seems rushed,.....the most wierdest feeling like music is flowing faster, but its not really.....first few hours on opa827 though, supposedly its like a opa627 but better....hmm opa 627 is like $30 each and this opa 827 is $9.98. a well good aupgrade from stock 551

I had an old pickle jar lying around and decided to use it as a housing for my Nuhybrid amp. It looks nice and sounds great, and as an unexpected bonus the wires seem to cushion things so there are no microphonics.

I tried this once but it made my headphones sound dill.
