I think we're in fairly close agreement....I wouldn’t say RAD-0 wins for all music, and I’d say they’re ‘pretty close’...
Try this tune:
Listen for the low-pitched bowed string instrument (probably a cello) @ about the 1:15 mark. Note that it recurs throughout the song. Comparing Empy vs RAD-0 production, from my chain/to my ears, the Empy doesn't produce that instrument as cleanly.
Also (to my ears) Empy takes a little bit of the 'edge' off her voice -- makes her voice a little warmer, but (again, to me) that takes away a bit of the song's pathos. It's a deeply personal song about her father, and the emotion drips from every note.
On the other hand, Empy does a great job allowing the sax or clarinet, whichever that instrument is to produce the 'other' emotional pole of the song.
