Rosson Audio Design RAD-0 - Alex's Beautiful New Baby

...My immediate thought was the RAD-O sounded similar to the Empyrean...
...I wouldn’t say RAD-0 wins for all music, and I’d say they’re ‘pretty close’...
I think we're in fairly close agreement.

Try this tune:

Listen for the low-pitched bowed string instrument (probably a cello) @ about the 1:15 mark. Note that it recurs throughout the song. Comparing Empy vs RAD-0 production, from my chain/to my ears, the Empy doesn't produce that instrument as cleanly.

Also (to my ears) Empy takes a little bit of the 'edge' off her voice -- makes her voice a little warmer, but (again, to me) that takes away a bit of the song's pathos. It's a deeply personal song about her father, and the emotion drips from every note.

On the other hand, Empy does a great job allowing the sax or clarinet, whichever that instrument is to produce the 'other' emotional pole of the song.

All IMHO of course :)

I went to headamp and I think I saw them with chrome. I like it a lot. When I purchased was the first day Rosson went online. I didn't have many choices. You can see mine in the beginning of this post. Right now listening through them and it kicks ass.

Would love to see a comparison of these vs the LCD 24, which by many counts is the most neutral LCD and seems to have a similar sound signature to the Rosson.

why is the lcd 24 not on audeze's website but other websites have it for sale?

Why take LCD 24 if it sounds the same? Rad-0 is cheaper.

Mine have the chrome .. I was torn between the Blood Red petrified and black matt finish, similar to the LCD-4 ( which I own as well ) or the much more vivid blue hews ( Azure Twilight ) and chrome .. I opted for the later so as to not have two look alike(s).

After talking to some dealers, about the same price, especially since I don't think there are any discounts on the Rosson yet. That's why I suggest a comparison would be interesting and we don't yet know they sound the same until somebody does a side by side.

I looked at B & H it listed price around $3500 on pre order. If they priced it wrong I don't know.

You call or email dealers (Not B&H) they cannot advertise anything below MSRP.

Very interesting thread.
Thanks for.

The 3.5 plugs look similar to the plugs of the T1, I think.

I tried to use My Sony 3.5mm to (4Pin) XLR and no go .. I wrote Alex and he sent me a schematic for the Pin Out set up, which according to cable makers, is quite unusual - I've ordered some custom 4Pin XLR cable for the RAD-O from 'lqicables ' and should have them this week coming. It's my understanding Alex will be putting XLR's up for sale on the Rossen Audio Design site at mth's end.
