I find DSD Remastering to do a better job than vinyl for relax mood listening. Though I don’t really like the collapsed soundstage of DSD remastering either.

I guess I am too used to the AI remastering of the DSEE Ultimate. It’s like my default DSP to use as I find the added soundstage layering, frequency refinement and dynamics alteration to help a lot with the music that I have.

As for DC phase linearizer, I think it depends on the headphone/iem. Some sound better on type A while some are type B. As for the low, Std or high, I think it’s also depending on how much bass coloration/bleed you prefer.

After uninstalling all of this, can you still get updates from Google Play Store?

consider first before taking this out:
com.google.android.gms

This will remove google playstore, which removes the only app installer and app updater on the walkman.

theres one app which I didnt remove as I am unsure if its essential but might be a candidate for removal for those who are adventurous:

Ah, got it. Will give this a try.

@Sonywalkmanuser

I tried uninstalling everything you posted here (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/son...kman-optimization-guide.962975/#post-16953155) and my Playstore failed to work afterwards. Had to do a complete factory reset. 🤔🤷‍♂️
Did you removed com.google.android.gms by mistake? This is the playstore app.

Because it is very similar to com.google.android.gm
Which is gmail that can be removed.

I had my friend follow my guide and his Walkman’s playstore still works fine like mine.

No, I strictly followed your list. Did it yesterday and just done now with the reset and files loading. Will study more before I try again.

In that case, I suggest you to do selective disabling of apps first to check upon what would break the playstore. Once you confirm that the playstore still works fine with the disabled apps you chosen then you can move on to doing the Adb uninstall for the disabled apps. Would be good if you can update us if you found out which app breaks the playstore.

Is the Walkman app dependant on the Play Store?

I don't really care for updating apps since I'm using it 100% for local file playback

Sure. Right now I have most of the apps disabled and Playstore works fine - just like before. It's when I started playing around with ADB uninstalling files when the "fun"happens

Will try your suggestion of uninstalling files one by one over the weekend.

If the result is a required factory reset, this proves to me that the Debloating Process of the beginning of this thread (post #10) is flawed and not properly tested.
A simple "use at your own risk" disclaimer just isn't good enough and a correction stating "try disabling first" 6 months later is too late.
