Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
dt1990 with dt990 pads sounded to me pretty much the same like the A pads, but quality of the material of dt990 pads is a bit lower in my opinion. Out of all the stock pads, I like dt1990 with t1 pads the most (EDT T1V). Sounds to me like A pads with a tiny bit more bass.- Luminance

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
well for some reason the sibilance seems to be less noticeable for me on the dekoni pads than on the A pads. I'm using topping dx3 pro dac/amp my EQ for A pads is very similar +3dB@20Hz (q=0.3), -3dB@7.5kHz (q=4), -3dB@8.5kHz (q=4)- Luminance

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
after reading the updated review: https://diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/headphones/measurements/brands-a-i/dt-1990-pro/ I ordered the Dekoni Elite Velour earpads for those (EPZ-DT78990-ELVL) in my opinion, with these pads and no EQ, they sound better than with my EQ and the A pads those pads are...- Luminance

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
I tried the T1 v2 pads and they appear to be exactly the same like DT1990 balanced pads. For me these headphones sound best with T1 v1 pads. Just a little more low end than the A pads, but not as much as in the B pads. As for the T1 v2, i cannot comnent on them.- Luminance

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
You may want to check out the Takstar Pro 82. I have the first revision with more sparky treble and longer 2.2m cable. Though the second version should be close enough. For me, the sound signature is quite similar to the DT 1990, except that mids seem to be a little more forward.- Luminance

He didn't say Z1R are harshly bright. He said that they have a treble peak, which didn't let him enjoy these headphones. Lol- Luminance

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?
That's weird. Frequency response graphs: orange - Amiron green - DT 1990 purple - DT 1770 That's with the 1990's B pads. A pads have more extension in the treble.- Luminance

Do you wear glasses? Could be this coming from the earpads? Can you check if the creaking persists with the other set of earpads? I do wear glasses and there is slight creaking which occurs if I shake my head and it's actually coming from the earpads.- Luminance

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?
While the HD660S performs better on 'entry amps', Tyll found the sound 'smoothness', scaling abilities and detail retrieval of the HD 600/650 to be superior to the HD 660S on high grade amplifiers. He suspected this might be the result of the higher impedance of these cans.- Luminance

Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
I believe T1 second gen are identical to 1990's balanced pads, so getting them would be a waste of money. T1 first gen on the other hand (EDT T1V) work very well with the 1990's IMHO. The sound keeps just right balance between A and B (not as bass lite as analytical pads, but without bass bloom...- Luminance

Closed cans for classical music
AKG K 553 Pro & AKG K550 MKII is the same headphone (K553 being marketed for U.S.). If you were to pick them, you should try getting the newest revision with detachable cable (AKG K550 MKIII), available directly at the AKG site. Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7NC is a great option for portable use...- Luminance

Closed cans for classical music
Is the isolation mandatory that it needs to be closed? I'm asking, because open HPs have a lot more options for classical. But if it has to be closed, I would recommend Audio Technicas models, which are very good for classical music. Take a look at these models: ATH-A990Z, ATH-A1000Z. Their...- Luminance
