dt1990 with dt990 pads sounded to me pretty much the same like the A pads, but quality of the material of dt990 pads is a bit lower in my opinion. Out of all the stock pads, I like dt1990 with t1 pads the most (EDT T1V). Sounds to me like A pads with a tiny bit more bass.

well for some reason the sibilance seems to be less noticeable for me on the dekoni pads than on the A pads. I'm using topping dx3 pro dac/amp my EQ for A pads is very similar +3dB@20Hz (q=0.3), -3dB@7.5kHz (q=4), -3dB@8.5kHz (q=4)

I tried the T1 v2 pads and they appear to be exactly the same like DT1990 balanced pads. For me these headphones sound best with T1 v1 pads. Just a little more low end than the A pads, but not as much as in the B pads. As for the T1 v2, i cannot comnent on them.

You may want to check out the Takstar Pro 82. I have the first revision with more sparky treble and longer 2.2m cable. Though the second version should be close enough. For me, the sound signature is quite similar to the DT 1990, except that mids seem to be a little more forward.

He didn't say Z1R are harshly bright. He said that they have a treble peak, which didn't let him enjoy these headphones. Lol

That's weird. Frequency response graphs: orange - Amiron green - DT 1990 purple - DT 1770 That's with the 1990's B pads. A pads have more extension in the treble.

Do you wear glasses? Could be this coming from the earpads? Can you check if the creaking persists with the other set of earpads? I do wear glasses and there is slight creaking which occurs if I shake my head and it's actually coming from the earpads.

Depends on the version. DT 880 Pro (250 ohm) is for studio use and has a quite strong clamp. There is also Premium version, which was made for average consumer and has a light clamp. So the comfort of that one should be better. DT 1990 has strong clamp also, similar to the DT Pro version. BUT...

+1 for NFB R2R 11. I have NFB 11.28 myself, but if I was to buy an amp again, I would choose R2R instead, basing on the reviews. Have you tried DT1990 with analytical pads? Less bass than with default, balanced pads, but the bass itself is tighter and has better quality. Treble is also clearer...

Won't it depend on the impedance of the headphone's? Fidelio's X2 impedance is very low so the static hiss will become audible sooner, but at same time they are going to be much, much louder at the lower volume knob setting. The static hiss in my B&W P7 becomes audible also at around 10 o'clock...

e10k will power the DT990 250 Ohm just fine :) The alternatives would be: Philips Fidelio X2, ATH-AD900X and Sennheiser HD598
