They still charge a pretty big margin on top of its manufacturing costs

  I have the modi 2 uber and it's definitely neutral/bright. It doesn't color the sound in any way, just keeps it nice and clean. If you're looking for a warmer sound, I'd definitely look elsewhere.

I've got my HD600 paired with the Schiit uber stack and for me the setup just doesn't do it, its just not as detailed as I wanted it to be. Eyeing the HD800s next, which sounds more along the lines of the detail I'm looking for.

Definitely a lot of speculation going on lately, lets hope for the recent buyers they aren't releasing an 801...

I have a few friends with the MixAmp and they work great, definitely recommend those. The HD598's are a great choice, especially for gaming.

I'll also second/third the E11K, solid portable unit.

I've heard the 650s have a warmer sound and with the schiit stack being completely neutral it carries the warm sound over basically untouched. I have HD600s and across the board its way to neutral with the Modi2U/Magni2U, so if you're looking to add to the HD650 sound I'm not sure the schiit...

I can tell you the 598's were the first audiophile headphone I ever purchased and they were arguably the most comfortable. Being that you're not an audiophile you will probably be blown away by their sound, I recommend them highly as a good place to start. I just got my Modi2U/Magni2U sctack 2...

The AKG's are pretty good, I have the K712 Pro's and they're very detailed in the highs but can be fatiguing but I've heard good things about the AKG K550s

Magni2U/Modi2U don't come with cables but schiit does sell their brand of 6" cables which come highly recommended.

I'm curious how these compare to the LCD-3s
