Dan Clark Audio Aeon 2 Noire Discussion/Impressions Thread
Generally when imbalance occurs it's the driver assembly not the connectors or cabling. We did see a higher percentage of failures for a month that were due to manufacturing of a component that was in spec but had a secondary issue that is now being inspected and tested for with greater care...- mrspeakers

Totally fine, but be sure to use the pad spacers. The aluminum titanium won’t be bothered by it at all.- mrspeakers

What about a portable DAC/Amp like the iDSD Black label? It's not quite a pocket device but... Another option our team likes is a Poly/Mojo 2 as you get lossless on WiFi...- mrspeakers

If you find it too sharp in the highs pull the headphone down then forward so your ears touch the upper rear of the pad vs being centered, this adjusts the tone of the headphone to soften the upper mids and lower highs. AMTS makes it possible to predict relative changes in response regardless...- mrspeakers

Thanks for sharing that! I have a recording I use to assess emotional impact, the Budapest Festival Orchestra's Mahler's 4th Symphony, 3rd movement. When things are right with the tuning this piece never fails to make the eyes tear up... That's a big general question... I generally suggest...- mrspeakers

You can reduce clamp by reducing the tension on the strap… less tension on band = less clamp- mrspeakers

Dan Clark Audio EXPANSE Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I think Expanse has a huge soundstage. That said, it presents differently from the HD800 in a couple of ways. Expanse places the first row closer to you, so vocals etc are more "intimate," but it also places the furthest objects pretty far back, so front to back depth on Expanse is very large...- mrspeakers

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Not really, no. I don't think we've had anyone complain it's too clampy but I also don't see all customer communications... You could try moving the position of the strap forward or back on your head, you may find there's less pressure in some positions for the strap than others. Nothing says...- mrspeakers

Thanks for sharing, hadn't seen it yet! One of my favorite things about pretty much all the E3 reviews has been that most of them seem to have had no material "con" or "quibble."- mrspeakers

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I didn't look at this yet but I will this week, assume the roads around our office don't flood again with the storm about to hit. Impulse response standalone really is difficult to interpret because the positioning effects can be substantial, but that said the time-to-settle is consistent even...- mrspeakers

Anyone saying the Hugo 2 doesn't have enough power is probably deaf. Just my $.02. True enough. I always say that using the output of a laptop or phone makes sense if you want convenient, low-level background listening.- mrspeakers

IR measurements are quite position-dependent, I'm not sure how much help this actually would be. I'll take a look when I have a chance and post if I can make something I feel is both accurate and comprehensible.- mrspeakers

Email us at info@danclarkaudio.com Easier than Susvara but still wants a good amp. I don't agree with those saying Hugo 2 isn't adequate, but that said the amp sounds a little leaner than some units so it may just be what you're looking for... Please don't answer for me. I do NOT tell...- mrspeakers
