    Power regulators

Any step-down transformers within that range that you would recommend? The ones I have seen that fit the range are variable, like this one. I don't know how good the quality of those is, though.

    Power regulators

220V AC, and the power demand is usually 16-20W. It's an olde tube amplifier. Telefunken/Tab V76.

Because the device is a really old one. :relaxed: It is specified for 220V, and at worst +5% or -15% "but preferrably not".

    Luxman P700u Headphone Amplifier Thread

I ended up buying from Airlink. That might be overkill, but isn't that what we audiophiles are all about? But regardless of choice, I would go with a linear (that is, toroidal) transformer. Step-n-chop transformers make noise for other audio components.

    Power regulators

Any recommendations for a (step-down) power regulator? I need a clean / linear output of 220V, from an input of 235V - slightly inflated from EU mains voltage of 230V.

I ended up buying the p750u via Buyee from Japan, and I am still pleased as punch with what it offers.

DACs for my Focal Stellia and Luxman P-750U

Enough power to drive Abyss 1266 well. So take that as a YES.

Converter to USB-C for an ADC

I am considering buying this AD Converter. It has no USB output, but it has Toslink, Spdif, AES, and Dante/Ethernet. My intended input is a Mac Powerbook laptop, which has USB-C inputs only. What would be the best way of connecting the two? I am considering maybe finding a good AES–to–USB-C, if...

    Watts Up...?

Just curious, a "few" years later: What is the state of the world when it comes to AD conversion these days? Has Davina been a fruitful project?

Since I have a bulbous head: 5 and 11 here, for bass, so that the opening is towards my jaw. I have had fun testing real deep bass, below audible, and have had some skull rattling at 8Hz. For regular listening almost the opposite, as the 1266 is no bass wimp even then.

Point taken and pun appreciated. :relaxed: We do also walk in different herds. For let's admit it, though we do follow our own tastes, we also follow the prevalent advice in the herd. In the studio end, some engineers regard V76 as the holy grail whereas others have not heard of it. Just like...

It costs, by all means. But we should recognise that studios EQ, and balance the cost/benefit. What should also be considered, is that there are different types of EQ. The type with 20 levers that you can push up and down seem not to be optimal for studio use. It seems (though I am surely not an...

I am wondering why many are against EQ'ing. It's not like they don't EQ and colour the sound in studios. Rather, it's the name of the game to tune the sound until it sounds the most pleasing in their monitors. So why not apply a studio type EQ at your own end if the studio hasn't EQ'ed it to fit...

    Luxman P700u Headphone Amplifier Thread

Going on vacation in 15 mins, but ... ok. I added a Luxman DA-06 to the mix (bought used, so it's burnt in a long time ago), and the whole setup drives both my Abyss 1266 and my Grado RS-1 beautifully! The Grados are good headphones already, by all means, but I could get fatigued listening to...

I fail to see the point of using an amp that could output power way past what you are interested in exposing your ears to. The headphones react to the actual current going through its wires, not the current that could have gone through. And even though "power reserve" is a popular term to bandy...

It should not matter, since the Powerman is a Power Supply and not an amplifier. The Class A (and so on) classification does not apply to it. It might matter that it will be continuously providing current to the Formula S amplifier, since it is Class A. But still, note this: The heat emanating...

The tube in the Riviera is in the preamp section. Could this change of character be accomplished by inserting a suitable preamp between DAC and power headphone amp? Has anyone searched for (and found) such a pure preamp?

Not that I know of. But the dealers sell at the same price as the Abyss website, so you might try asking a dealer instead.
