Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC (and headphone amp)
After moving up onto Aries Cerat Helene, I sorely miss the Tambaqui's small form factor and weight lol- xtr4

High End Cables Thread (digital, analog, power)
I'm running their power cable 2404 using Furutech Rhodium IEC and Furutech Rhodium NCF UK plug to my DAC. Previously I was using the Furutech DPS4.1 with the same connectors and the InAkustik is so much better with routing lol Sound wise, on the DAC it didn't make much of a difference but I...- xtr4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
For me, the basis of upgrade for the DAC was the pursuit of a more realistic reproduction of strings and piano. Depending on your budget, you might consider going the R2R type or discrete DAC route.- xtr4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
At the time I got the LCD-5, I was using the Holo Audio May, then onto the Mola Mola Tambaqui. Later I upgraded to the Soulution 560 and now I'm on the Aries Cerat Helene.- xtr4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
It's a big step up in the power delivery and control. The Aurium is well regarded in those areas for its price point but the InPol just does it better. Of course diminishing returns kicks in and at that point, it's almost impossible to rate it by value but more towards what you're comfortable...- xtr4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
I'm pairing it with the bigger brother, the InPol Ear and it sounds fantastic on it. I used to own the Aurium and it's a great little amp too. At the time of owning the Aurium, I also bought the SPL Phonitor X which is also a really transparent amp. I preferred it to the Aurium because of the...- xtr4

Hifiman HE1000-SE
I second the sentiment on pure tube amps. And I do find the claim that OTL's and planars to not synergize well to be untrue, at least in my own journey. My best value amplifier which sounds incredibly well with the HEK-SE is the La Figaro 339 with upgraded tubes; TungSol 5998. The low end is...- xtr4

HiFiMan Susvara
To me, if you're a vocal/mids preference type listener, the Susvara is one of the best in terms of sublime, liquid mids and vocals that's euphoric to listen to. It is phenomenal in that regard. Paired with the May DAC and the right amplifier, and you'll be listening to hours on end which is...- xtr4

Pathos Inpol Ear Headphone Amplifier
I think the 2 main reasons for this are; 1) Both the Cayin and Envy run 300B tubes which in many circles are the "endgame" for tube amps; the tubes not the amps hahaha 2) Cayin and Feliks are both pure tube amps and thus those in the market for such would typically ignore hybrids such as the Pathos- xtr4

SPL Phonitor X / Phonitor E impressions and Discussion thread
The thing with the Phonitor that alludes people is that the Phonitor is absolutely transparent to the source. It'll sound almost exactly like your DAC, Turntable, CD player. That's the double-edged sword of the Phonitor I suppose.- xtr4

High End Cables Thread (digital, analog, power)
It really depends but I usually would look towards my DAC first, then amp as the DAC is the one that can really "hear" the enhancements- xtr4

Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC (and headphone amp)
I actually prefer USB from my dedicated core into the MMT than from the Ethernet. Subtle differences but that's my preference on my gear and music. Also, MMT does upsample everything internally prior to PWM and thus any upsampling in the preceding chain probably won't have the desired effect as...- xtr4

Pathos Inpol Ear Headphone Amplifier
When I got the Pathos, I already had the Puritan PSM156. I haven't tried any others though I was tempted by the Denali, but couldn't due to cost reasons. And the Denali with UK outlets are really expensive locally. I live in Malaysia, so all my outlets are UK. I started my journey with UK...- xtr4

Pathos Inpol Ear Headphone Amplifier
I actually own the DPS4.1 with FI-50 Rhodium + FI-UK NCF + Synergistic Research Orange fuse. It is an excellent cable pairing to the Pathos BUT it is DAMN heavy and unwieldy. I used to use the MCRU Ultimate Power Cord on it but this is so much better. Apparently the MCRU no.77 power cord is the...- xtr4

Pathos Inpol Ear Headphone Amplifier
My input as follows. My current stable consists of the following amps; Pathos InPol Ear, ampandsound Mogwai SE, bespoke SuSy Dynahi and beta22 powered by external sigma power supply. I've owned and sold SPL Phonitor XE, ECP DHSA-3F, Pathos Aurium, ALO Audio Studio Six, La Figaro 339. Out of all...- xtr4

Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC (and headphone amp)
For sure if that's the direction you're going for. Heck I have a friend who "downgraded" to a Naim Uniti for his work desk and couldn't be happier. Horses for courses as one could say. I have been lucky enough to move my stuff into it's own space (for now; kid needs his own room soon hahah) And...- xtr4

Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC (and headphone amp)
Well, to be fair, in my country, the MU2 goes for almost triple the price of the MMT. However, the MMT is really something special that I've owned. To me, in terms of DAC preferences from ownership experience with my musical preferences (I listen to all genres but mostly leaning towards...- xtr4

Sorry, this made me lol because that's exactly what he's been doing when the hum gets removed. Anyway, as many have mentioned, it's a grounding issue and you'll need to identify the culprit in your chain.- xtr4

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
To be totally honest, this is fairly subjective and mostly depends on the individual. But this will typically be how it'll play out; Scenario A: You like the sound right off the bat. After 10 hours, you still like the sound. After 100 hours, you still like the sound. Scenario B: You don't...- xtr4

SPL Phonitor X / Phonitor E impressions and Discussion thread
I meant that the XE sounds exactly like the source you plug into it. It doesn't add or remove anything from the source signature. So it'll sound exactly like the Hugo2 or Holo May or RME, as if you're plugging it directly into them. Some amps, for example, the Violetric V2xx series, they might...- xtr4
