    Audeze - MM-Series - MM-500

Good to hear - having plastic in a structural place sorta defeats the purpose of the nice metal build everywhere else. Hopefully its possible to replace that part with metal somehow.

    Denon AH-D9200 - 2018 Flagship - Impressions Thread

I did because I thought it was unacceptable, but every new pair I got just had some other small imperfections. Nothing functionally problematic mind you

    Denon AH-D9200 - 2018 Flagship - Impressions Thread

Couldn’t agree more - I returned my pair twice due to imperfections in the pads. but I don’t have that uneven cloth - that’d be unacceptable.

MOONDROP Seventh Anniversary Edition, Beautiful World

By the looks of it their frequency response is essentially the same as the Aria Snow edition or original Starfield. So should sound about the same in presentation - but with a better quality drive, so maybe a bit more clarity I’d imagine. But both of those have a less popular bright/lean tuning...

MOONDROP Seventh Anniversary Edition, Beautiful World

Kind of sad to me how allergic this hobby apparently is to anything that looks interesting. Or maybe its just a vocal minority. I bought a Dioko, just out of spite because of that - joke on me in that case tho, because that IEM was tuned quite poorly, so I never use it. No amount of fun design...

    Audeze - MM-Series - MM-500

Speaking as someone who's been a cable maker in the past, my best guess is connector tolerances. Some times the male/female connectors tolerances vary slightly causing a bad or no connection in bad cases, or at worst can outright damage each other or starlight up not fit. This is mostly with...

Headphone Measurements DON'T MATTER <Video> | Moon Audio

I think using hyperbole in attempt to dissuade overuse of measurements ends up discrediting the video severely, to those that know anothing about the topic, which is a shame, because I think the overall point is a fair and relevant one.

    Introducing the Audeze MM-500!

They're very different, but from memory its not a strongpoint on either of them. Hopefully someone who has them on hand can elaborate.

    Introducing the Audeze MM-500!

It most definitely doesn't, unless something is outright broken - in which case you should consider getting it looked at. Especially not with a linear device like a planar headphone. Don't get me wrong, you do you - I just want to add perspective for others to not sink money. If you don't like...

    Introducing LETSHUOER DZ4

That’s a shame, was really hoping someone would finally make a good set with bass. Thanks for the impressions though, at least that saved me the money.

    Denon AH-D7000

Does anyone know at what serial number they updated the D7000 in 2012? I’m trying to find one of the newer ones, but I’m not sure what to look for… There’s a serial number on the box, but no date. Basically if anyone knows they have the newer version, could you let me know what serial number it...

    Introducing HIFIMAN Arya Organic

Really looking forward to graphs of these becoming available compared to previous models and things like XS! Well, that and I'd love to hear one of course, but thats not really possible here.

    Introducing HIFIMAN Ananda Nano

Now that sounds very intriguing, and hopefully the Organic follows the same trend. Look forward to one of the graph databases getting all of them, so its actually possible to see how they compare to XS and others in terms of the mentioned bass etc.

    Introducing HIFIMAN Ananda Nano

Yea, regardless which model suffers most from this, I definitely agree - the tendency for the "stealth" label just meaning "treble peak added" I'm really not a fan of.

    Introducing HIFIMAN Ananda Nano

Personally I'd take XS over any of the prior Ananda's, but who knows with the new one - or which fits your taste. What headphones others like doesn't really tell you much unless you know what they like vs. what you like.

    Introducing HIFIMAN Ananda Nano

I believe I've tried the original and the stealth version. Headphones are never going to approach the staging size of speakers, without major DSP, so I don't quite follow the notion of being artificially big? To be clear, the stage and imaging on Ananda is fine - I just like the 1000v1 better...

    Introducing HIFIMAN Ananda Nano

My favourites have been 1000v1 and XS which reminds me of the aforementioned. HE1000v2 was pretty good as well, but not as good as v1. Ananda just lacked the huge stage/scale that made the others so special to me. I liked Ananda, it just sounded more normal/average, more compressed - but still a...

    Introducing HIFIMAN Ananda Nano

I think something happened to the factory, so they had to move production somewhere else, and couldn't recreate it, for whatever reason. So they had to change the name/version. Thats what I've heard at least - it was out of their hands, to an extent. That said, Susvara being basically the same...

    Introducing HIFIMAN Ananda Nano

I'd definitely take XS over Ananda on sound. And on fit as well, since the Ananda has no swivel, so it couldn't even seal on my head. The XS headband isn't great though, I'd agree; on the smallest setting it 'just' fits, but only just. Like the fit is good, but if it was any bigger it'd be...

    Topping A90 Discrete aka A90D

To me that would be the Edition XS, it has great detail and tonality, and a massive sense of scale. Audeze would be the more linear path from 1060C since thats what its aping, but I don't personally think Audezes are very good -though EQ helps. But thats a matter of personal taste ofcourse.

    Introducing the Audeze MM-500!

MM500 is marginally less shouty than LCD-5 but sounds fairly similar. To me they're both very shouty. And these were demo units, so assuming you care about "burn in" then that was done.

    Introducing the LCD-i3

In fairness, personally, I'd use a Q5k anyway, with a better EQ etc., so there's always that option. That said, I'm still not a fan of the development either.

Up for sale is a pair of IER Z1R in mint condition - I see no wear on them. They come with all original packaging and accessories. I bought them on here for a review and am selling them since I’m done with said review and need the funds for other things. I might be interested in trades or...

    Introducing the LCD-i3

Yea, was gonna say… I’m reconsidering my plans to buy any of their product, since they all, even flagships, rely on EQ to sound any good - and dropping support for a product that expensive that soon, does not inspire trust. Good on them for responding at least.

The blessing has returned and it's only getting better: blessing 3 is up to the game

And with those graphs, I’m out… time to look for cheap used B2 or dusks I guess. Reduction in bass and more treble is about the last thing I’d want - crin’s tuning is usually already anemic sounding, and if this has even less…
