The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
I see, I'm almost positive that these are the original pads. The previous owner never changed them and they really are impossibly thin, and a quite 'nappy' material. I guess no one has attempted to remake those original ones.- der Koekje

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
I bought the HD800's over the Christmas period and so far I'm very pleased with them. The only things I need to fix are the worn pads, headband and head adjustment. I'm looking at replacing the pads once I repaint but I'm curious whether new pads will be thicker than the worn pads. Of course...- der Koekje

Headphones aren't like general consumer electronics. The HD800 is already top-of-the-line, an update might give you a different sound but not necessarily a better one.- der Koekje

Woo Audio WA6 + WA6SE: Tubes, Comments, Pictures, and Advice
What adapter would I need for those CV455's? I see them for £45 NOS which is a fair price.- der Koekje

Woo Audio WA6 + WA6SE: Tubes, Comments, Pictures, and Advice
Well the issue is that I don't have much of a reference. I don't know which tubes affect the signs in what way. I figured each pair would have their own sound signature but it seems like instead it's the type of tube that does most of the heavy lifting? For example, I found this: "6DE7 -...- der Koekje

Thanks! Great recommendations, I'll read up on them. It does come with the (stock I assume) tubes so I can at least get a reference. Thanks, yeah I did see that adapters are apparently a thing. No major downsides to them? I do see 12AU7 pop up a lot so I'm guessing that's a good value for...- der Koekje

Woo Audio WA6 + WA6SE: Tubes, Comments, Pictures, and Advice
So I bought the WA-6. It popped up on ebay for $100 and no one else bid on it. A nice deal I hope even if it's not the SE. It'll come soon, but I'm not really all that familiar with tube amps. I know they are using different, less standard tubes in the older WA-6 so I guess I need an adapter? Or...- der Koekje

I'm on the lookout for my first (OTL) tube amp to pair with the HD800(s), and I'm seeing first gen of these pop up for extremely reasonable prices, say €250-400. Would this amp still hold up in 2023 or would I be better off checking out something like the Feliks Echo II, Xduoo TA-26 or...- der Koekje

That's a cool offer! Unfortunately I don't own the HD800 so I have no point of reference outside of hearing the HD800S a year or so ago.- der Koekje

So you would argue removing the frame is the best mod? The SDR mod is quite old though. I see newcomers like the aforementioned frame mod, Maxx mods, etc. I'm just wondering what the best of these are since the SDR seems to only partially fix the resonance?- der Koekje

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
So I don't think I'll make much progress trying to browse 1928 pages but the SDR mod is quite old and new ideas and variations seem to have popped up. Therefore I'm wondering what's currently considered to be the best mod, that is decently attainable (so no JAR800) I'm sure there's a lot of...- der Koekje

HD 800 (modded) vs HD800S
Why did you have it a couple of times? I'm just curious what made you get rid of it and buy it again so often. I'm not sure if the Drop 8XX is a viable option. I'm Europe so prices are pretty much the same as the HD800S, plus I'd sacrifice resale value by ripping out the stickers (I checked...- der Koekje

HD 800 (modded) vs HD800S
Hi all, I know this question has been asked throughout the years but I'm wondering what I should do. I'm contemplating one of these headphones and I'm not sure which one to go for. A year or so ago I posted on here taking you through my journey on which headphones to buy, I mentioned liking a...- der Koekje

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
Cute, I see they used my PM-3 in the new product shots. I will say that right now it’s extremely difficult to order anything from them as many banks have ceased payments to Belarus (where they are located). I sent them in a week before the Russian invasion and didn’t see them return for a good...- der Koekje

Nan-6 planar headphone ?
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on these and I'm looking for a nice pairing. I've checked some threads on driving the HE-6's but they're naturally a bit outdated. Since the headphones is rather cost-effective I'd like to do the same for the DAC and amp. So far I see the Hifiman EF400 which...- der Koekje

Looking for a solid (used) (planar) open-backs with an emphasis on sub-bass
Yeah I’ll definitely keep a look out for those OG clears. I’ll be traveling a lot in July and I may end up being able to attend Can Jam London which would be a nice way to sample (although not entirely sure considering it’s a noisy floor).- der Koekje

So update time! I still haven't bought headphones, if anything I'm more indecisive than ever but let me elaborate. Based on all the help I've had so far I've decided to take a few hours and sample a few headphones. Luckily, Ears Unlimited offers fantastic service and if you're ever in the...- der Koekje

Introducing the Audeze MM-500!
Thanks! Great write up. Some questions: When you say the bass is more like the LCD-5 then the LCD-X, does it mean it’s less bassy than the LCD-X? And how does the sub-bass stack up? The LCD-X has a reputation for being a bit dark, does the MM-500 continue this trend or is it a bit brighter due...- der Koekje
