Need serious input from true audiophiles...

Okay - like many others, I finally decided to dip my toe in the proverbial sea of audiophilia. What I found was a hodge-podge of differing opinions and ideas. So anyway, I had decided that I was going to pan it down to a few ideas and find a place to try them out, right? Wrong.    ...

What to get after Grado SR-60i? Want actual soundstage...

So I bought a pair of Grado SR-60i's last year after lurking around these forums. They've served me very well, however the other day I got a chance to listen to my friend's HD555's and I noticed a huge difference right away.   I don't know how to describe it, but everything sounded clearer...

    Looking for some advice~

Hey guys, I'm Matt and I'm new here.   I have about $160, and I'm looking for my first pair of decent headphones.    I plan to use them for listening to music/movies and also plugging into my guitar amp, and gaming. Music I enjoy is all classic-rock, and stuff from the Beatles and...

Recommendations for a new set of headphones?

Hey there, Head-Fi! I'm new here, so please forgive me if I've posted in the wrong section, but I'm desperate for some help. You see, up until about 2 weeks ago, I, as ashamed as I am to admit it, was a Skullcandy fan. Yes, yes, I know it's depressing, but now that my fifth pair has been broken...

    KSC75 with headband mod?

I did the headband mod to the KSC75 and have a couple of questions.  The headband is super light and was very easy to do but now I am finding the slight sound pressure directly in my ear to be too much.  Has anyone else had an issue with this after the headband mod?  What I was considering was...

    SR60i driver buzzing?

I've had my SR60's for about a month now and I'm really enjoying them, except that sometimes I hear buzzing in my left driver, particularly when there's a lot going on and when there's a lot mid-high tones. This occurs when I'm listening at mid-high and high volumes. Is there any way to fix...

    HELP: Remove SR60i Button

Hi all, I've been trying hard to remove the button on my SR60i. Tried blowing it with hairdryer then use a pair of pliers to twist the button. All I could do was to leave terrible marks on the button, without being able to twist it at all. What should I do to remove it?

    SR60's looks.

I've noticed that a lot of people on the forums don't like the look of the SR60's. I was wondering why is this? I received my SR60i 's about a week ago, and one thing I love of about the headphones, besides their sound, is how they look. I think, in my opinion, that Grado cans are the some of...

Looking for the best headphone for less then $100 for my ipod.

Hey guys, I have decided I need a new headphone for my music. My price limit is $100. I like every type of music (literally). I also need this to plug into a ipod, and from my research ipods can't power good headphones. I have heard good stuff about the senn hd280 pro, or the hd428's but whatever.

    Audiotex - Anybody know ´em?

Hi, My first post here. I have been lurking for a year and been active over on DIYAudio. My daily headphones at work are Grado 60i and Yamaha HP-2, at home I want something really nice, but haven´t landed any yet. But on to the question:   I bought a Audiotex headphone on Ebay, which will...

    Bass comparison to cheaper headphones?

Hey! Recently, I broke my 3rd pair of Sony MDR-V150's, so I set out to search for some higher end headphones. While researching I stumbled across this site and became a lot more educated in the world of hi-fi headphones. After 2 days of researching I decided to order the SR60i's.  Anyways, since...

    Grado first timer - SR60i vs 80i

I've never heard a Grado, I'm just buying a pair because I hear they rule for metal. People say the 80s are better than the 60s for rock, but say I got the 60s, would I still be getting an amazing experience for the price? I would like to invest in a pair I don't need to upgrade but only if the...

    Confused about metal headphones -_-

I was getting hyped up about the Grado SR-60i I was going to order soon but looked even farther in the forums to find that Grados are better for faster paced metal while Sennheiser HD 580 is better for "symphonic metal"?    I'm really stumped here. I listen to metalcore, mainly bands like...

Some sort of organized flowchart for newbies deciding on headphones? (Drawing inside)

I've been around mid-fi land quiet a bit and I feel confident that I know how most things sound (bar ultrasone.) I sketched out a quick little thing that I think would be a cool idea to expand on and clean up, but perhaps something like that would help new people find the correct headphones for...

Headphones for around ~ HD 598

What headphones would be the best around the price range of the HD 598.   Also would the headphones require an amp, if so recommend me one, price range maybe a 100-200$, some thing around there   I don't want a amp that "color" the sound. I'm on a budget, so no amp if possible.

Skullcandy Roc Nation Aviator vs. Sennheiser HD 448

Hi guys,   I currently have the Aviator from Skullcandy.  It sounds pretty good with 320kb mp3 and lossless files, with good fidelity & acceptable bass.  However, anything lower than 192kb or has bad compression will sound a bit harsh.   An alternative I'm looking at is the Sennheiser HD...

Whats Your EQ Settings For Your Grado SR60i's

The title is pretty self explanatory. Thought I'd throw this up to see if there's a consensus amongst the EQing crowd on Grado SR60i cans. Mines pretty straight forward, I'm flat across the board with just a smidgen of pre amp added for extra oomph. For whatever reason I like to EQ my Sony...

    Best Trance cans Under $100?

Trance is my favorite genre of music for headphone listening, but I also listen to a lot of classic/progressive rock. I don't need a lot of bass to enjoy my trance though, so dont make that the main priority. Overall clarity and soundstage are more important imo. I'm willing to spend maybe a...
