My SP1000 needs to be very close to wifi access point for reliable operation. I think I read 2000 was not a lot better./Facepalm. Wifi needs to be off for app to switch to offline properly...
This is a saver. As i am having issues with wifi stability. It is worst signal i have ever had on dap. Not sure though if this is an issue on side loaded app or dap itself....
Using same wifi spots as i did with dx300 and R8. On those daps i can count disconnects on my hinders. While with sp2000 its a constant struggle. Wonder if thats the case with other owners?
I was expecting to have some issues.. But when its buffering for 2 minutes when tethered to a phone in the next pocket with full 5g coverage... Just feel like something is not right..

@JasonNYC Hey Jason, I apologize I am not able to find this but I believe a while back you posted the output power of SP200 with different ohm loads. Would you mind sharing with us again ?

32 ohms tough
SP2000 has a much better WIFI-Perfomance than the SP1000 or for example the SR25.My SP1000 needs to be very close to wifi access point for reliable operation. I think I read 2000 was not a lot better.
Seems like its my unit that is struggling more than anything. I can only imagine the frustration if wifi connection is even worse on other models.SP2000 has a much better WIFI-Perfomance than the SP1000 or for example the SR25.
There is also a possibility that its an issue on amazon app side.
I have already dismissed my internet source as possible issue as i used dx300 and R8 with same wifi spots with almost no issues. Be it office, home or mobile tethering which are solid for anything else i use.
I mean knowing that a dap costing 3+ grand is having such basic issues is a bit disappointing.
But i suppose its still better than having no streaming option at all like on L&P P6.
Otherwise its a solid device and i love everything else on it. Sound quality is just amazing.
And synergy with LX is best i had so far.

I prefer the Hugo2 / 2Go with the green Hf roll off if I had use a transportable solution. Can anybody please comment on their experiences of using SP2000 with utopia ?
Recommend an adapter to use the balanced output. Much better power output. It sounds fine. Utopia highlights the characteristics of the source. So that lovely SP2K neutral detail shines through. Sound is a little thin through the 3.5mm jack. I’m starting to think how many people actually spend 3k on a DAP to use thr lower power 3.5mm with their gear.
It’s a pain to chain a 4 pin XLR to 4.4mm (I use the Woo Audio one) to the effect audio 4.4 SP2K adapter.
yes, tidal got fixed in the latest version though I’m yet to test it as I Roon or use SD card.

Thanks for the input but 2.5mm should offer the same driving power as 4.4 mm ?I prefer the Hugo2 / 2Go with the green Hf roll off if I had use a transportable solution.

Yes. I don’t have an XLR to 2.5mm adapter. It would be too flimsy for the size of the XLR termination. Thanks for the input but 2.5mm should offer the same driving power as 4.4 mm ?
The stock balanced cable with Utopia terminated 4 pin XLR. Hence the adapters.
SP2K doesn’t have a 4.4mm headphone out. It’s created a whole new market of PWA and Effect audio adapters

I see. Do you see a benefit in adding C9 to sp2000 ?Yes. I don’t have an XLR to 2.5mm adapter. It would be too flimsy for the size of the XLR termination.

There are a number of reviews o; the C9. The general consensus is that adds more power, (perhaps) increases the soundstage and add a warmer analog tube flavour.
It really depends on the headphones you’re trying to drive and your personal preferences. I generally like both.

When I check currently playing at, the bitrate changes depending on the song. But what we can't see is the the sp2k upsampling everything to 24/192 ?The problem is that A&K devices don't display the actual bitrate anywhere (status bar. etc.). I have other Android DAPs that do. When Amazon is playing a 24/48 track on a 24/192 capable Android device, the actual bitrate always stays at 192 kHz. I'm not saying that's bad, but upsampling is not bitperfect. You will also see that if you use an external DAC that displays the actual rate.
