Just received My ANV editions
Impressions:
Sound way better than my MK1's, Just so much clearer in every way. BUT the pads really suck (to be expected) and I may try the cotton wool filling trick. The mids and highs are not as recessed and are far more detailed.
They seam to be quite a balanced headphone out of the box. I am immediately adding some 16-20k to give it more detail and sparkle which I like on most of my phones but other than that they sound great.
As for the bass, it is so much more tighter than my MK1's but not as deep or as loud, however I have the XB700 earpads on my MK1's and would expect when I transfer them over to the ANV they will fill in the depth and make for a much better experience.
For anyone wanting more deep bass with increased soundstage comfort and isolation I would highly recommend putting the XB pads on it. They are a huge difference with the biggest improvement being the movement of air/subwoofer effect since they seam to extend the freq response way way down. Bare in mind I have hot melt glued them on the MK1's (I was careful not to get any glue on the pads themselves.
I am on holidays at he moment so have no way of transferring the pads onto the ANV atm unfortunately.
I'm in love already!!!
EDIT:
I Just went to a mates to swap the pads over and it really is a huge diference. The title suggests that these headphones alone are like having subwoofers strapped to your head but when compared to having the XB pads on them the stock phones are not like that at all. It literally massages my ears on some tracks
Oh and IMO they look badass!!
As you can see the pads squash down a lot when they are worn.
