No need to be sorry. We don’t all hear the same. Personally, I was disappointed enough with the HD800S’ bass and soundstage compared to the HEKse to return it.
Soundstage in headphones is a bit overrated. Differences between wide openback like HD800 and "intimate" Utopia is not actually big. If you seek for huge stage, bookshelf speakers on desktop table will beat any headphone
I do not have Utopia, but Focal MG with similar "intimate" soundstage sounds like typical phones, when with HD800 and HE1000S sound seems to be coming from multiple speakers in the room, can be freaky experience on some passages, that definitely beating my Denon stereo bookshelf speakers.
Overrated or not, it's quite an immersive experience.
Yea, agree with @Andrew_WOT on this. I think headphones can produce a more immersive stereo image than stereo speakers.
Unless of course you have about 10k (maybe?) to build, treat and create the "perfect" room for stereo listening with the best speakers you like.
Surround is a different story with it's own pro's, con's and costs...
