Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

I only wish they were a bit nicer to badly done material or too hot vocals. Good tracks are really good. In my library its about 70% good and 30% bad tracks.
Looking forward to fix this with a tube amp.

I definitely prefer velour pads. Pleather was terrible.

I think this is good for bad track quality. Just listened song from my favorite artist which is notoriously bad at mastering and still sounds epic.

He only tested the DT-770 so far. But as they share the basic construction, I think you can take their measurements to get a good comparison with the T5p.

I checked it out. T5p has better isolation than DT-770 (and except for one peak near 100Hz, even than Alpha Prime). So DT-1770 will leak more? I do not know, can't compare, but if "isolation=leak", T5p and DT-1770 are quite similar. But if you read the previous posts here, people tend to agree that DT-1770 have less leakage - whether it is due to the bass port size, clamp force, pads or other...

I'm using my DT-1770 at the office where I'm sitting less than a meter from colleagues. No problem at all, even at loud levels.

But if you are this worried about leakage, maybe you should consider custom IEM's instead of headphones..!?

Thanks for the info. I expected somewhat similar behavior and currently I'm hunting for offers. My rant was mostly with regard to all these subjective statements about the leakage which makes you to wonder.

This is one example where the vocals are EQd too hot giving a harsh presence especially with higher volumes. Can other DT1770 owners agree?

Didn't seem that that harsh to me. Maybe my ears are ruined after using Pro 900 for many years, they made my ears hurt with words which had S letter or were overall rough with highs.

I didn't find this harsh. I wonder at which volume you listen this though...

This sounds harsher to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQF3EucE53E
Lots of treble. But in general I find the DT-1770 give the vocals more presence most of the time.

The treble is more offensive there but vocals are OK only slightly hot. The bass is really nice though. I find the vocals on my posted clip worse.
