I own a D7000 (actually it's now upgraded to a LA7000) and have had it for four years..................looks and sounds as new. So taken care of and handled responsibly they will last.............

The screw on the left cup of my Purpleheart TH X00's was damaged and loose on receipt and I'm always taking the cup off to re-tighten it. The D7200's are much better built and do not use the old Fostex way of connecting the cups to the headband

Cables can't really do anything for the soundstage of any headphone...
Thats not what i hear with the kimber cable and the Denon 7200 , the sense of sound stage i prefer it over stock cable ,
maybe not the most obvious change but there is a change for sure .

No, especially when the soundstage is in the recording, not the headphone.

Yes you are right there. But the recreation of the sound stage can vary depending on the headphones ability to separate detail and I think its the angle of the drivers/pad seals that allow for "direction" to be perceived.
But you won't ever perceive something that isn't there as it has to be in the original recording in the first place :)

Any unit can break.

Currently, Dennon just started to have parts to repair the D7200....

Authorized service centers just now getting parts..

is this common problem in those headphones? i knew victor dx1000 not aging very well, the plastic start to crack at some point. i'm not sure about fostex th900. for you who has denon d7000, how about them? do they aged well? i hope this denon d7200 could aged well

The way the hinge is connected on these Fostex looks a lot like the way that was used on the D2000/D5000/D7000 and that is a weakness. My D2000 fell off a side table (kids :triportsad:) and broke on the hinge. Some googling revealed this happens to more people. I think it’s fragile because the hinge is to the side, creating a leverage if force is applied to the other end and because the bolt is suspended in a plastic part which can shatter.

The D7200 are constructed differently, the hinge is less exposed and I expect less fragile. I’ve never held D7200s but I hope (expect even) that they used more solid materials.

Currently, Dennon will not repair a D7200...

For some stupid lame l reason they still have zero parts available to repair this unit...

Authorized service centers do not even have them listed in their databases yet.

really? that's really sucks

sorry to hear that. i didn't know that happened in denon. in the old days i was very much looking for denon but never really go for it because i already have other headphones. after seeing my friend victor headphone condition after 7-8 years and then got informed it is common thing with those victor and see those ebay auctions then i remember about denon, maybe there are some common things with the denons.

I use my TH900s, 5 of them everyday outside on the go. I walk, take trains and buses and I toss them in my back pack and all of them are in perfect condition. Usually buy new ear pads once a year due to sweat.
