Earbuds Round-Up

Mind sharing a photo of how you wear rw-3000?

Well for what it's worth (and without resorting to one of those digi-pixel things at the side of my head).

I wear RW-2000 over ear in same sort of position as T2 style IEM. That saves having to swap L-R cables and feels more secure.

For me, the sound is too bass light and anemic without the foams. I use foams over my wings because unfortunately the CAX needs wings due to the rigidity of the attached cable. Otherwise they will fly right out of the ear!
We like the same products, but our hearing is different and I prefer the sound of bare CAX.
In fact, I think Herry designed them for this type of listening.:)

The best of both worlds might be to use some donuts. The FiiO "crisp" foams are very good for this (IMHO). :)

Do you have a precise address where to buy them?
Unfortunately FiiO doesn't list their earbud foams for purchase separately anywhere; you have to buy them as an aftersales item.
@JAnonymous5150 detailed the process in his post here.

I really wish they'd just list them on their store like they've started doing with their silicone rings.

I see that many people love RW3000.
Is this me only who finds its mids unnatural?
The lower mids are too thin, the upper mids have a certain boost.
I use my planar-magnetic HP and desktop system as a reference for tonality.
FF5 sounds the way more natural to me.

Nope. I said exactly the same things just a few days ago. I should also add that the pinna gain is actually absent due to the boost so it's quite emotionless/clinical sounding (upper treble/upper mids is relative here).

Some rather interesting measurements (to myself) made experimenting with different shells and filters but the same dirver:

I would say at this point it is more like 40% driver and 60% shell for the sound of bud. (and there are many more other factors contribute to the final sound) And a lot more experiments I have planned to do that may take me a month to complete.

Interesting. I raised the idea of putting a BC driver in an earbud maybe a year or so ago but consensus was that it wouldn't be very effective as earbuds don't make contact with any bone.

For what it's worth... looks like the FF5 is more boosted in the upper mids. Though both have different sound signatures, I like how both the FF5 and RW-3000 sound and it's great to be able to enjoy both for their individual tuning. In this thread you will read differing opinions on both earbuds, that doesn't mean either earbud is totally bad, it just means that we are individuals with our own sound preferences. We also have some leeway in tuning our earbuds by using different foams or combination of foams to adjust the sound close to what we prefer within the specific earbuds sound characteristics.
