Ive been told the DT770's dont need an amp (80 ohm version at least) to function as good gaming headphones. All ive been told is they function alot better with an amp, but one is not needed, seeing as how most gamers who are this hardcore about a pair of gaming headphones probably owns a soundcard, which would be sufficient.

i agree..having a soundcard would makeup for the need for an amp i would say.

yes this does seem like an interesting idea. I was also thinking about having a similar sticky for office/work headphones cos they also show up quite often, and really there are much fewer options in that case.

But coming back to this thread, lots of ppl like the HD485 for gaming as well, so tat should be on the list. Maybe in the affordable section. cos they are the only options for less than 100. And you should add the A500 as well, cos if used just for gaming, the A500's will probably work really well as closed cans under 100 bucks . So there

Sennheiser HD485 - Most affordable gaming solution OPEN,doesnt require amp
~80$
Audio Technica A500 - Affordable gaming hps CLOSED, doesnt require amp
~100$

And while your at it, might as well throw in the Darth Beyer's/Sky Beyers, as they are better than the stock DT770pro for gaming.
