Exceptional in Every Detail: Say Hello to the IE 600

IE 300 ordered. Hopefully

“Technically the mids are on the same level as the bass section. Good, but not as pronounced as in the IE 900.”

It’s the second line that throws me off. I found the mids of IE 900 to be somewhat recessed in relation to the bass. Meanwhile the rest of the review suggests the IE 600 is more balanced....
Yep, that is exactly the line I meant! 👍

Oh wow, this is interesting. It is said that the vocals may sound or feel closer now on the IE600 compared to IE900. It seems that this is due to the accentuation in its upper-mids (2-3kHz) gain. This may be what I'm looking for, that was missing from the IE900

Excited to give the IE600 a try. A demo is already available here, so I might hop to the store later on today :)

Final assembly in Ireland regardless of where they end up. Updated market availability will follow, so please sub to the thread.

Will Sennheiser share measurement of the Sennheiser IE 600 ? FR and THD would be nice. Thanks!

How long before the IE660 is released? If it’s 25yrs, I’ll just get these as I may be dead in 25yrs. These look worthy of their name. The HD650 has been my reference for pretty much everything over the last decade and may well be for the next.
Tomorrow! Kidding. I think many HD 650 fans will be able to draw a straight line to the IE 600, in permanent marker.

Here's Crin's graph of the IE 600 compared to the IE 900.

I'm really looking forward to hearing those upper mids and treble!

They look tasty to my ears LMAO

The adequate boost in the sub-bass region should help balance out the added upper mid energy for those that are a bit more sensitive in that region.
I really wanna hear that treble though, I love me some sparkle and it seems to me like the IE600 won't have a problem providing my ears with those.

The IE300 also has a similar bass boost, but those treble peaks are hugely sibilant. Really unpleasant!
Looking at the graph, I fear something similar with IE600. I hope I'm wrong in this case.

The problem with the IE300 is that it's missing energy in the upper mids resulting in the treble piercing through the whole presentation a bit more. The IE600 having that much-needed boost in the upper-mids would help attenuate or take your attention away from those sharper treble peaks.

But let's wait and see how they perform once we get a chance to hear them.
I was a big fan of the IE900 even though I felt that the upper-mids lacked a bit of "clarity" in the female vocals I listen to. The upper harmonics did help a bit with that but it was still missing a majority of the body of female vocals. Hence why I actually still much preferred the IER-Z1R's overall female vocal presentation since it still had that up-rise energy in the 3kHz to 5kHz region. The IE600 doesn't have the same energy in that region still, but the elevation from 1kHz towards around 2.5kHz might have a similar effect, not exactly the same for sure, but I'm looking forward to hearing how different the presentation would be how it would change the overall sound of the IEM.

Even though it might not have as complex of an acoustic design and have precision-milled shells (in which I think the majority of the IE900's more premium price tag gets factored in. Plus, adding in the R&D costs to that as well.) The IE600 is through and through an IEM Senny is proud to release not exactly as a "lower-end" model in terms of sound but as an additional companion/flavour to their flagship. -this might definitely be the hype talking but man... I'm HYPED to hear it lmao

I'm not sure if you're talking about the IE 600 complimenting having an HD 650 in their repertoire or easily being able to transition easily from one to the other when upgrading. Regardless, they get added to my watch list.

The mids look enticing, hope to get to try it out before I jump on the hype train.

"This new earphone will be available for pre-order today, March 2nd, with orders in China and Japan shipping March 8th. Europe and North American availability will follow in spring/summer."

Then they are made in China, aren't they?

It wouldn't make sense for them to be made in Germany or Ireland, and sold first in China and Japan, right?

Of course it makes sense - it simply shows where the real/large audiophile markets are.
