You can disable charging in Settings > Battery. They've added this function in FW1.0.7 for LTD and FW1.0.2 for ESS.

I don't want to disable charging I want to run it off a power supply if that bypasses the battery.

Like I said above I know that isn't an advertised feature, like it is in a more elaborate manner on the M23, but it is a feature on some other brands DAC/amps I have even though not advertised as such.

Probably a stretch but hoping the battery management is sophisticated enough to bypass the battery when plugged into a charger even without all the other M23 desktop mode features.

Dear friend,

If you don't want to disable charging. You could consider to enable the Charging optimization option. Charging will stop when the battery level reaches the setting values.

Best regards

Thank you,

However all I wish to understand is if I leave the M11 Plus connected to a charger while using it is the M11 Plus running off the battery or is it running off the charger ?

Presumably in the first case that would adversely affect the long term lifetime of the battery.

I know it doesn’t have an advertised desktop mode with the extra features of the M23 but I wondered if the battery management might be sophisticated enough to bypass the battery when connected to a charger so it doesn’t use and charge the battery at the same time.

I have done this a couple of times for an hour or two and didn’t notice any additional heat usually associated with battery charging.

FiiO,

Any update on timing of Android 12 update for M11 Plus now that the M23 has gone on sale and still also waiting on an update.

Thank you
Dear friend,

Sorry we could not promise the time of Android 12 update for M11 Plus currently.

Best regards

How many years have we been hearing about the upcoming Android update in FIIO products ?
For FIIO the world has stopped at Android 10 at new products too

Knock knock - who's there? - so Android 15 I'm coming in August 2024 but not for FIIO. :scream:

FiiO promised Android 12 on its DAPs for the second half of 2024. Here: https://web.facebook.com/FiiOAUDIO/...kFAj1zHjst3bECC4eE1XcQkDj7Xfbd48SyCLBWWUD4xsl

PS: It doesn't make sense for Android 15 for the DAP due to the optimizations and hardware required.

I don't even dream about Android 15 in FIIO because it's still to come.
There are a lot of links about Android 14, including those you wrote yourself.(This is an interesting topic)

I will patiently wait for the stable use of at least this version of Android 12 in FIIO,
in how many device models it will actually be possible to implement it.
and only then will I buy new FIIO products.

FiiO has already stated that it is possible to update all models with the Snapdragon 660 to Android 12. This way, just search for the SoC on the DAP page to find out whether or not the device is eligible for the update from Android 10 to Android 12.

Maybe i'm the odd man out but I truly don't care what version of Android it runs as long as it works. I buy a DAP to listen to music at it's best - I get something like a Samsung S23 Ultra if I want the newest baddest android software and features. To me it's entirely different use case scenarios - but I may not be a true audiophile because i'm very content with my gear - 3 headphones, one dap, one portable amp - i'm happy and enjoying my musics!

Do you understand why FiiO and most other DAP brands use what are essentially outdated versions of Android ?

But I know why new applications are not compatible with the old version of Android,
and why, for example, the first version of the flagship FIIO M15 (a great player) is dying, on which I will no longer install the newer version of Tidal.

In the case of DAPs and smartphones, manufacturers have found an easy way to replace/purchase new equipment due to the old operating system and the inability to install new applications on these versions.

I don't need another block to press the paper.
Android 12 is currently the minimum to sleep soundly.
Let's wait and see what equipment and models this update from 10 to 12 will apply to.:smirk:

I can't say with certainty but a search a while back indicated that Tidal and Apple Music both only need something like Android 5 or 7.

Tidal requires Android 7 and Apple Music requires Android 6 using current versions of the apps. Anything below Android 9 is starting to become a problem with some apps (Wavelet, Roon ARC, Sony Headphones, etc.)
