Well I bought the EQu app. It's absolutly wonderful but it costs 3,4,5 dollars or something. Amping does help with these, but you don't NEED it. At least not for portable use.

Hmmmm well I would be using these mainly for litening to fast metal like Metallica so I guess you wouldn't be able to help me there.

Not too much. Averege isolation. It's really hard for portable cans to be good at Metallica.
If you want something with less bass, get the mdr 1r or Sennheiser Momentum, or ath esw9a.

What about v Modas or sennheiser hd 380?

The m100 is a basshead can, and is really good for pop genres but not for rock. Hd380 is barely talked about, so not many people know about it.

Also, don't judge the focal spirit one by reviews. It has gotten better and better with each new batch focal releases. The people who give it bad reviews are the ones that had the problems with them early.

I've read a little about them. They don't have good isolation, and are in the same league as the ath m50, which is a tier below ws99, m100, mdr 1r, momentum. UE6000, dt770, etc.
