Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Thanks! Btw, they published a more in-depth introduction to MEMS only a few days ago:

I'm actually thinking a little bit beyond TWS here. If the Cypress could be used in position arrays It could make awesome over ears. But what would be really be cool is if something could be done using HSS like in that video you posted a while back, the over ears could be completely open and deliver lifelike audio with no bleed. That would be truly incredible.

Looking forward to the evolution of MEMS technology.

also just adjusted price of brand new Mystique for sale, to 199.

Great article. It does make me feel like it's worth pausing any purchases this year, as I doubt it'll be too long before we see all the big brands start championing many if not all of these new technologies.

I'm particularly impressed in the understanding of how hearing can be compensated by frequenciy boosting for different age groups.
Yeah, I’m a sucker for good deals, but I’m good for 2024…. I’m looking at Focal Clears, or maybe a Newman NDH 30…
But I’ll be back, because I’m amazed at the tech 👍

You mean something like the Sony PFR V1, but with no bleed?

I had one of those. The left driver stopped working and took them back to Fry’s. They didn’t have a replacement, too bad, as they were good if adjusted properly.
Funny, the bass traveled down that little U shaped tube. 👍

I have one of those, too. One of my many attempts to find a solution for best possible open sound and headstage.

Yeah, but hopefully something that does not make you look like you just came out of spinal surgery.

I've had a MySphere 3.2 for some time now, which arguably makes you look a little less goofy, while offering similar spatiality and better SQ.

Unfortunately, what you have in mind wouldn't work with the Cypress though. Because unlike the speaker you saw in the video, it creates ultrasound only internally to achieve high sound pressure levels. And demodulation is done immediately afterwards, still inside the driver, so what finally comes out of the Cypress is actually regular sound waves in the audible spectrum and not the highly directional ultrasound carrier waves like in that speaker demo.

Don't remember if I posted this before, but here's a detailed technical explanation of how the Cypress driver works:

Xmems full-size headphone modular solution, but one still needs to adress the amplifier issue.

Yeah I figured as much. HSS has been around for maybe 25 years, was invented by the same guy who invented sonogram technology. And I've been dreaming of something like above since I first read about it back then. Perhaps it's impossible using only air as a medium but I dunno, maybe ear hairs? If so I'm a good candidate for tests :)

Finally found a great sounding TWS, the EarFun Air Pro 3. Decent ANC mode, full, impactful but clean bass, decent mids, and excellent Treble. I can use these in places where I can't use EQ b/c none need. Tips that accompany are not great, but I have plenty.

$55 now on Amazon
I've read mixed reviews of the v3 but I've been happily using v2 for a couple of years now, very versatile, and a very decent ANC (much better than the Soundcore Liberty 4 I briefly tried after reading some very positive feedback here). I also have the Free Pro 2 for some extra passive isolation. Thing is with ANC is that every little bit extra counts so for long train trips the Bose QC Ultra add a little "je ne sais quoi"

Has anyone tried the Marshall Motif II ANC ? I just read a glowing review here https://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-gear/tools/marshall-motif-ii-anc-earbuds-review/
