I also use a Norne Zoetic with my HEK, sounds great. Have also auditioned the Dana cable, thought it sounded better, but twice as expensive (not enough to replace my Norne), and stiffer (and, if it is of interest, Norne cables are beautiful, much prettier than the Dana).

I am interested in trying an aftermarket cable (eg. Moon Silver Dragon) for my HE1000 headphones.

Is there a way that I can first audition the cable before purchasing the cable?

Jeff.

I messaged Drew at moon audio and he said they do not have a loaner program, but you can buy the cable and return it if you don't like it for a 10% restocking fee or full store credit

Alternatively if you're local, you can go to their location in Cary, and test it out

Attending meets or shows would be a great way to try out different equipment.

Thanks for the information. I think that it's too expensive to pay a 10% restocking fee just to try out a cable.

Why not try the cable company. They do free loaners if I'm not mistaken

Just bought a HEK. Initial listening and burning in now. There is a lot of posts to go through here. Anyone using HEK with Chord Dave here?

Start reading around post #7705.

I just bought a pair of HEKs and like the look of the cable you describe but there are so many options at checkout. I would need balanced and unbalanced? Want to use it both with my QP1R DAP for portable use and eventually either the MicroZot or McIntosh MHA 100. What cable termination and what cable adapters will I need for this kind of use????

Tunes,
The DAP and both amplifiers are single ended so you need an unbalance termination. the DAP and the amps have different size sockets. the DAP has 1/8" stereo and the amps 1/4" stereo. Depending which one you willbe using more I would go with that termination and then just get an adapter for the other one. Norne has great "direct" (no wire) adapters also in the website.

The termination at the headphones is the 2.5mm mono on each side.
