HiFiMan Susvara

The susvara is definitely akin to a pane of glass, I think it falls to my amp, I'll try modifying it or just get an envy and be done with it.

The envy definitely sounds like the endgame for me when paired with a warmer dac.
Not exactly the same but I had the D8K Pro LE and its more sibilant leaning (still wouldn't call it sibilant) than the Susvara. I've also heard the Utopia 2022 which is slightly more sibilant leaning than Susvara. I experienced what I thought was sibilance when the Susvara was underpowered but I insisted on turning up the volume. I also agree its probably the amp since the D8K Pro LE and Utopia are much easier to drive than the Susvara but I heard the opposite of you on a good chain.

After watching Sajid's video about the Susvara amplifier, I decided to switch my amplifier from Yamaha as3200 to Accuphase E4000 because he thought E5000 was one of his favorite three (I think E4000 is more cost-effective). This was a successful decision, but the only thing to note is the phase. The Japanese phase is opposite to the international standard. When I first listened to this amplifier, I thought the sound was so strange. After considering various factors, I found out it was a phase issue, and I needed to turn on the invert-phase button.
Past amplifiers (time series): Audio Valve Solaris, Pass Int 30a, Accuphase E380, Luxman L509x, Mark Levison 585, Hegel H95, Yamaha As3200 and Accuphase E4000.

Two Susvara's? Was one not enough? :L3000:

I would rather try different pads for Susvara than consider other headphones, and it's also difficult to find headphones that need to be driven by speaker amplifiers.
AKG K1000 or Raal SR1A come to mind when essentially needing speaker amps to drive them properly.

How much are you going to pay? Because you can buy an open box susvara edition with 3 years of warranty for 4k, directly from hifiman shop. I had to replace the right driver after 3 months of use, and hifiman did, of course. Whatever would be the quality i wouldnt buy such a expensive thing without warranty. And if you are from usa you can buy a refurbished one with 3 years of warranty for about 3,5k

In fact, I once had an AKG K1000, which had a very natural and transparent sound. However, compared to Susvara, I clearly felt that the sound lacked details, had poor resolution, and could even be said to be not at the same level.
But these headphones have become a thing of the past, and currently I only have 2 Susvara and 1 He6sev1.
Raal recently released a new flagship earphone, which is so expensive that I don't know its true level yet. I need more people to comment on it to decide whether it's worth placing an order.

The K1000 was first released in 1989 so its understandable that the level of resolution and detail is not up to modern standards. I think the only headphones that would hold up today for these aspects would be the Stax Lambda series.

There is also a myth that there is "bass heavy" and "bass light" versions of the K1000 but nobody can confirm this to be fact.

I respect Akg k1000, but for me, having it for a while is enough. I will still use all my budget for Susvara.
What about selling both Susvara's and getting the Shangri La Sr?

Susvara is good enough for me, Shangri La Sr cannot generate enough marginal effects, it just has more esteem value instead of use value.
I think buying a speaker amplifier to drive Susvara would be more flexible, to choose a pair of speakers is also a good option.
The tone of Susvara is the most balanced among all hifiman headphones I have ever heard. It is not as bright as the Hek series headphones, nor does it emphasize the metallic texture like the He6 original. It is rich and inclusive, simulating a tall concert hall. It is one of the most detailed headphones in the world, but at the same time, it does not excessively reveal the sound source. It chooses to simulate the attenuation of sound on an open stage, which is a very clever approach.
It was the first headphones that made me feel like WOW, so I bought two. It's good enough, so I don't need Shangri La Sr.

The modern equivalent is the MySphere, same designer, logical evolution, if you don't need sub bass the 3.1 version is my #1 headphone, Susvara would be #2.
But they need very different amplifiers.

I listened to the Raal Immanis at CanJam and was astonished by its detail, staging, & tonality. I wasn't convinced its bass was quite up to the level of the best planars, but that was a short listen in a noisy environment not well suited for analytical evaluation, and anecdotal reports from the few people who have had it in hand for in-home demo so far seem to be that its bass is *at least* on par with Susvara or 1266 or better. I'm intrigued enough that I've put my name on the list for a demo unit.
