iFi audio Aurora - The Official Thread

Why not Roon Ready? If there was ever a IFi device that warranted this, it is the Aurora. It’s a deal breaker. Really curious on your thinking on this?

Lack of Roon support is due to the XMOS chip inside of Aurora already maxed out, just as it is the case with our Pro iDSD. In order to make Aurora Roon ready, we'd have to remove lots of its functionalities. But we're aware of how important Roon is to enthusiasts so if we can make it happen somehow, we surely will!

Thanks for the helpful reply. Does ASP use more resources than DSP? I know you would like this to be a new category but unfortunately it will be compared to the Naim Muso 2 as some of the reviewers already have. I love that you chosen not follow the DSP route.

This week's iFi's top-rated product... it sounds as good as it looks... it's the Aurora.

Discover Aurora: https://ifi-audio.com/products/aurora/

Miles: "My Aurora is just super cool, late-night jazz or pounding out techno like Koan Sounds “Fuego”"

Julie: "I love great-sounding music and I love design. The Aurora is an unbelievable combination of both and is a stunning addition to my home. I’m not a true ‘audiophile’ but I love music, so the fact that the Aurora is easy to use is an added bonus for me!
There are of course more advanced ways to use it for the true audiophiles but I love that literally anyone can listen to their music on this grand scale.
Everyone instantly admires it and are then blown away by the amazing sound it produces. It brightens up my day every day! Love it and can not recommend enough 🌟"

Will do. Still 2 weeks out. Looks like Lilly in Canada is selling allot of these!

Two questions I can’t see anything about in the manual or online.
1. Where is the fuse located and what rating?
2. Is the tube user replaceable? Or does it have to sent somewhere? Estimated tube life?

Thanks!

Still waiting for the new stock. Things are a bit slow due to COVID.

Any answers to the above question? Also, curious why you went with a Russian 5670 instead of the GE?

Ah, sorry, let me ask at our HQ again. I should have all answers shortly!

1. The AC mains fuse is not easily replaceable but should only blow in case of a fatal defect. The fuse protecting the main DC bus is self-resetting. Extensive protection circuitry makes any fatal fault highly unlikely.

2. A screwdriver is required and opening the device will invalidate warranty. Its tube operates at low anode dissipation, so its practical life should extend well past 100,000 hours.

As a NOS type, the GE is pretty much mined out. Whatever stock we have left, is reserved for high end products.

The Aurora is a lifestyle product with high end sensibilities where possible. But it's a sub 2k USD system in one box.
