Check with your school for student discounts on lenovo, they often have great deals available. Apple also has student deals.

Thinkpads are amazing. Certain models even have built-in roll cages (maybe even all of them, haven't paid much attention since I'm out of the market now). Second choice is HP business line. Excellent, excellent laptops. Thinkpads have the better keyboard.

I think theres some coupon codes for Lenovo on that site, save yourself a few hundred bucks and check it out.

5% discount if you go through the "students and alumni" portal. Not sure if it stacks with the coupon codes but try it out.

i would go with a thinkpad. personally, i don't trust lenovo as much now that it's built by china. however, if you can pick up a NIB t40,41,42p,43, that would be very nice. it's not dual core, but they're solidly built and getting pretty cheap nowadays.
