I don't know what curve the grey one is, but it sure doesn't look like the Meze 99 Classics as measured by many people !

The 99's are universally known for being already warm headphones (you just have to put them on to notice that). A bass boost of up to 6 dB like the one suggested by iFi audio would put them way above the Harman curve from 20 to 300 Hz 😳 I don't know what measurement rig they used, or if they messed up with earpad seal during measurements, in order to obtain such a different curve. I just don't get it.

With that said, to each his own taste ! :)

Whoever made up that ad copy has obviously never heard the 99 Classics...

I actually think that tuning would work well IF... The 99 Classics still came with the very 1st original pads. But, they don't. I wonder if this tuning was conducted around the original FG, before everyone complained about the pad size, and Meze started selling them with the new, larger pads.

Well. Whilst I wouldn’t mind giving the MZ99 a listen, I still cannot imagine anyone saying that the 99s are “…bass light…” !

They're not and that's a fair point. I'll ask internally about that :)

Not to disparage iFi but I have to wonder if they just slapped an "MZ99" where the "HD6XX" was, called it a day and wrote the marketing material to match the product rather than really tuning for the 99s. A boost in that area seems like the last thing the 99s need, whereas it very much made sense with the HD6XX.

It's a different EQ tailored for Meze cans, but thanks for pointing out and I'll ask about that tunig. Perhaps by a mistake we got the wrong graph.

Could anyone please recommend replacement pads for my Neos? My ears are large and touch the driver and also get sweaty. I did my research and I think HM5 ovals but can’t decide if velour, microsuede or hybrid. Thank you

I use the Brainwavz Sheepskin on my 99C. Ears don't touch drivers and no sweat. Use the same pads on my HyperX CloudX gaming headset which I can wear for hours.

I'm looking into building a custom balanced cable for a Meze 99, but the unusual 3.5mm connectors are a hurdle. Does anyone know where to source 3.5mm connectors that will fit in the Meze 99 cups? Thanks

You can also find 3d printed pieces to modify the cups to take normal 3.5mm connectors
Ooh, interesting. Would you mind pointing me in the direction of an STL? I've searched all the big sites for Meze and nothing came up
