Tge Sonic Memory SW2 an iem that seems to be only available to a select few due to so few dealers actually stocking them. A brilliant DD with wood faceplate and wooden tuning nozzles a mid forward presentation with very quick dynamic bass coming from an 8mm DD using the Cayin N3Ultra it's a very organic spacious sound signature. Also the iems come with a kimberKable which is a very nice cable.
Still available from Shenzen Audio

NiceHCK have been on form lately with their “better” releases like Himalaya and DragonScale 2. I’ve been buying their cheapies on and off for years but it wasn’t until very recently that I started taking their higher end stuff seriously - i.e. stuff that falls squarely here, rather than in the low end thread.

I wasn’t much keen on their prior approach of selling surplus stock from supplying this or that famous cable brand and marketing them as dupes (and those cables were frankly hit and miss - some downright meh, some decent, others simply not to my taste).

But when they announced they were creating their own prototypes from different types of cable material, I was interested. So when they released a small batch of these prototypes during the Ali anniversary sale, I picked up a few. I spent some time getting to know them and these are the ones I like most.

Most of the listening was done with the Himalaya, Titan, Quattro and Impact.

SSOrpheus

Pure silver cable. Very transparent and resolving, particularly in the mids and treble. Not bright or sharp; instead a full sound, more natural and less aggressive than you might expect from an SPC or hybrid. Good sub bass extension and definition though it won’t add note weight.

Interestingly, I noticed a peculiar lack of depth on open listen. I left it on the burner for about 10 hours and it opened right up. Perfectly aware of the different schools of thought on it, but this has got to be one of the more significant burn-ins I’ve actually heard.

Really nice colours but the fabric sheath (if it can be called fabric) is stiff, scratchy and microphonic.

DragonScale 2

IMG_4792.jpeg

(Not one of the new prototypes; but it stands tall among them)

Silver-palladium alloy. Very good upper treble and imaging, wide sound field. More bass pressure than something like SSOrpheus. Less mid-forward and less W-shaped than the likes of AuKing Ultra.

Different price bracket, but if I were to compare this with the much talked about Xinhs silver-palladium cable, the Xinhs is brighter and snappier. In comparison, the DragonScale 2 is much more resolving, brings more natural tonality and decay, has much more bass and is simply the more well-rounded product.

I’ve never heard OG DragonScale so can’t compare them.

AuKing Ultra

Gold plated copper. The vocal specialist of the lot, but also one with very nice treble extension and deep, textured bass. Fab mids for voices. Got my first goosebumps with Himalaya on this pairing. Treble here is more prominent and shimmery than SSOrpheus, but not sharp or fatiguing.

The most substantial bass of the three, though DragonScale 2 is not far behind.

It has an expansiveness in its staging that I associate with good copper. Conveys a clear sense of depth, layering and separation.

Compared to Eletech Raphael, AuKing Ultra is lusher, darker. Raph may be more resolving, or at least more overtly so because of its upper mid/lower treble tilt. ISN GC4 is a bit similar to AuKing Ultra in its darker colouration but AuKing Ultra has better (and more) bass.

Interestingly, Raph has relatively shallow depth compared to GC4 and AuKing Ultra.

Thiccc cable with a very soft fabric sheath and no microphonics of note once the music is playing. My favourite cable of the lot.

If you like lighter and thinner cables, I can definitely recommend the new Final Audio Soft Silver Coated Cable ! It’s such a pleasure to use, on the same level as a Linum Super Bax, just nicer looking! :)

About prototype cables from NiceHCK.

The middle is very transparent, the bass is slightly elevated, as are the treble frequencies. The cable itself is large:

regarding the copper jack, there are doubts that this is not entirely true. perhaps he was dipped in copper sulfate, it's hard to say.
The braid is fabric, cotton, with inclusions of plastic thread for shine.

As for cable DragonScale2: it has a better resolution, but at the same time there is more aggression at medium frequencies, a wider stage, better high frequencies. My best cable so far.

Colour is awesome but it’s not a sweater I would want to wear tbh. The only cable fabric I’d wear is the AuKing Ultra. So soft and smooth it’s almost cuddly.

Still getting to know GreenGod but it is a little more blue than I expected and a near perfect colour match with Symphonium Titan, just saying.

Hey all. Haven't posted here in a bit. Once I get my system set, I make myself not go on forums for a few years. So I don't get onto the "I need to buy it" mode. My system (that I'm very happy with0 consists of EE Evo, Yinlumei W1, and the Penon Leo. (thanks for your reviews and reccomendations!). I dropped the player. (it's ok) but my cable needs a resolder. You guys know anyone that does cable repair like that? Also---considering getting a better cable. Budget is $400. Was thinking about a used Totem. Any other erccommendations?

I have the Leo - one of my OG silver cables from 2017? 2018? Still one of my softest, most supple cables and what made me realise that pure silver cables can be natural and airy, not bright or fatiguing. Where would you like to go from there - what would you like to improve about the Leo and what sort of sonic changes would you like from your new cable?

Mine is the Leo Plus which is not all silver. My problem with the silver cable I have--- the ISN AW8. (I think that is the number) Is that while everything else is great--- the bass impact is not as good as the copper I have (PWGenesis). With the Leo Plus, is better all around than the silver, but the bass (impact) is better on the copper. The bad on the Leo. Plus is very nice in weight and timbre, but the impact is softer. Is like to find a cable with the overall sound of the LeoPlus, but the impact of copper. I was thinking that the Totem might fit the bill. There are some used ones for 400. Soundstage and imaging are great on the Leo Plus. The PW is not in the same ballpark.
