Curious, as well. I have a couple of 6N6P Foton Gold Grids I'd like to try if there's no danger to the Freya.
Freya Noval. This is our other top-of-the-line tube preamp. I say “other,” because it’s exactly the same as Freya+, with the exception of some operational point changes, and the addition of two small resistors to the gain-setting structure. That’s it. Everything else—differential buffer mode, passive mode, volume ladder, etc…all the same. The difference is that this one ships with 6N1P tubes, which we have a zillion of, so you can be assured of supply. The other difference is that you can use a whole lot of different tube combos in this product—6DJ8, 6922, 7308, 6BZ7, ECC88, 6CG7, heck, you can even use 6N6P in two of the slots, combined with two lower-heater-current tubes, because as long as you’re under 2.4A total, you’re fine. (And if all of this crazy heater-current talk makes you nuts, just stick with the 6N1Ps, or try a quad of 6CG7s, or try some premium 6922s as input tubes only.)
A cheat sheet of safe to use combos would be great to develop.I’m going to check the amp draw of my RTC branded Mullard tubes and maybe try it.
6N6P is 750 milliamps +/- 70 (seems the Russian tubes always carry a "+/-" spec). A 12AT7 running at 6.3v is 300 milliamps. So anywhere between 1.96 amps and 2.24 amps for a pair of 6N6P's and a pair of 12AT7's. That's within the 2.4 max current Jason specified, and also probably why he specified running the 6N6P's with a lower current pair in the other sockets. The stock 6N1P is 600 milliamps +/- 50, so you could end up with as much as 2.94 amps if running 6N6P's alongside 6N1P's, depending on how far above the base spec the exact tubes in use are pulling. Any 12A*7 tube as well as 6922's, 6DJ8's, etc should be fine in conjunction with the 6N6P's.I'll look that up, as well for use with 12AT7s...
@bcowen -- What is the total amp draw for 2x 12AT7 and 2x 6N6P?
** I could look it up, but Bill likes to feel needed.

For the good?Well, I looked at the current draw of the Mullards, those plus the stock Vallhalla/FV didn't exceed the limits posted by Jason so I went for it.
There is a tangible and palpable difference. Hopefully not psycho acoustic.
And now in the US (at least up here) all of the newer trucks the construction workers drive to enhance their masculinity have so many lights on them the oncoming traffic is blinded regardless of them having their high beams on or not. In high school, my old beater '71 F150 with "3 on the tree" had a million candlepower Q-beam spot light hanging beneath my stereo. Really wish I had that set up in my car for these "people" nowadays.In AU we flash our lights at oncoming traffic (in the daylight), to warn them of a speed detection camera or other related activity that they would soon happen across. It's definitely illegal, but common practice for sure.
Ans if you happen to leave your high-beam on a night into oncoming traffic, the oncoming traffic will usually return the favour, so now both driver are blinded. Great system
The Fyne F300 and GJallarhorn are liking each other. As the speakers are against the wall I put the port stoppers (?) in and still used Roon's MUSE to shelve down the bass, which was a bit wooly for my tastes.Tyrs and Magnepan 1.7is ordered. The wait begins... sorry, not sorry for my wallet
