I can see what you have and if you used v222 to drive NDH30, then I am not surprised you got one note bass with NDH30.

have you heard the V222?

just saying if a just under 4k chain can't make the NDH not sound boomy, maybe that's not a good thing lol. it's supposed to be a studio tool. what does that say about it?

Can you compare these to the HD660S2's, if you have/know them?
Oh he had 660S2 from Amazon, took them apart, did some surgery to them and then decided to return to Amazon. I honestly feel bad for whomever ended up with that pair :face_palm:

You know the song Calm Like a Bomb from RATM?

That's what these headphones are. They look cute, compact, slick even. But man do these pack a wallop.

Listening to Tool, Fear Inoculum now. Chain is UAPP -> iBasso DCO4. These kick drums..

With the velour pads the response sounds W shaped. This isn't an overly warm sound at all. Very clear to my ears. There's a lot of detail coming through in the treble area, but the mids are there too. The mids don't feel pulled back, but right there w the treble to my ears. It's almost overwhelming at times, the amount of information I'm hearing in those ranges. I need more time to comment on the bass. I can say slam is quite fantastic on this set. Kick drums sound ridiculous.

I feel like Senn pulled off something serious here. This feels like the cutting edge for what a dynamic driver can do at this price point. In comparison to the 600, the 490 made it sound a bit rough and unrefined. I almost hate saying that but it is my initial impression. (Sigh) The imaging and sound stage really put this headphone at a very high level. Just pulls everything together into this wonderful sound picture that thrashes you in the face. That's all for now. Going to shut up before I start making even wilder statements 😆
W-shaped? Now you've really got my attention! It is sounding like a Clear OG. If that is even close to true, I will Need to buy these.

Not that unit but 200 series, yes - too warm, lacking drive and hard pass for me. I would not have paired that amp with NDH30.

All it matters is that your amp appears to work well with 490.

Most studio gear are generally transparent so those should work well with NDH30.

Jesus man you sound salty. Take a rest. Enjoy your day. We're just talking about headphones. Also i guess the concept that a headphone that's designed to be disassembled completely rather easily, can be and still be in perfect working condition misses some folk 😆

I am guessing the violectric one: warm amp + bright cans = neutral sound :k701smile:

V222 isn't that warm dude. You would know that if you heard it lol. Also the 490 isn't bright w the velour pads.

Sure. Will try if they exhibit at CanJam or Axpona. I have heard my share of Lake People / Violectric to know those amps are not for me - I like my amp powerful, transparent and neutral.
