Yamaha HPH-MT8 studio monitor headphones

I'm assuming that one is slightly inferior to the 780, which I had. The MT220 sounded way better to me.

I haven't heard the 780's, but apparently some people prefer the 680's over them:

Ultrasone hfi-680 are wonderful and better than hfi-780

Where is the love? Ultrasone HFI680

huh, lost part of my post..
Dave Ratt went on a "best live sound headphones" quest a while ago, and in this episode he was looking into "low frequency capabilities". The 680's ended up being one of his top picks (see 7 minute mark):

Anyway, I love both the 680's and the 220's.

Sheesh, the way you're hyping those, you'd think they're the second coming of the VE Monks lol!

I'm not really into iems any more, but that price is silly - I gotta try them. Done!

seems mt8 is out now ? i could order from 2 stores here in sweden :p

Are you sure that you can order it as opposed to pre-order it?

Try adding to basket and see if it is available.

I have just tried several online stores in the UK and it is not yet available.

How much is it in Sweden and any links would be great?

They are on the way to Europe and the rest, possibly call the dealers and ask when Yamaha in the specific country, will get them there

They may be in stock before Christmas, if Yamaha got their stock and shipping right, as they want to get some sold during shopping times

They have had them in Japan for some weeks now

Thanks for the info bro, I am very tempted but maybe I have enough new gear at the moment and may hold off for some feedback from others first.

It is also available from Germany (with 3 years warranty)  https://www.thomann.de/ie/search_dir.html?bf=&sw=YAMAHA+MT8  for €199 and free delivery.

Will you ask your friend to give us some views especially compared to the MT 220?

i feel the mt8 is more tamed than the mt220 in the treble area, still it has some piercing, if you listening to psy-trance for example, or some bad recordings in other genres
as some sounds are prone to sound harsh

that made me stop using mt220, because it was all the time

have mt-7 and mt220 to compare to, mt7 actually is quite more enjoying for the moment, still it has more hours on them, as they were a bit bass-lacking the beginning, still now quite good (for a more casual use) without too much piercing if you adjust the volume

seem that yamaha takes the critical listening to production seriously as you will absolutely fix the piercing in recordings that, now is present

or if they had a better way of taming the piercing treble to something more softer, would be nice, to not having to damage your ears, a little all the time

may need to consider to mod these, if there are any better alternative out there to use, because some recordings at higher volume, will still put some strain to the ear

still have to wait til ive had a listen for 100+ hours

Thanks, do you have the MT8 or just tried it?

Could it be your source that is causing the piercing sound? - as I am not hearing any with AP100 or Mojo.

i have it, still havent put so many hours on them

probably not the source, in amp, still i find with the yamaha mt220 and mt8 that it does find piercing sounds quite well, could absolutely the psy-trance sounds and mastering, as some more vocal sounds better

as i listen to some dance music, this could be more prominent

still it does with 45mm and less bass as some 50 mm with the tuning, to be quite an exciting - electric sound to it

The MT8 can be purchased from here as well. It's currently 27,000 Japanese Yen, which is about $235.

He doesn't have the mt220 :p also don't know if he can describe the sound that well. I can ask...but i think it's better if nlse compare mt8, seems like he already have it and could better describe the sound :3
