Hey look what arrived earlier today:

This is the Caldera Closed using the Queensland Maple wood. It's my first time with any headphones that employ such a gorgeous wood that is also finished so well, so I had to take some photos beyond just the usual reference-against-white-backdrop style.
That wood is really lovely--it looks different from every angle.

I am wondering how its frequency response compares to the CO, VC and AC. People seem to be saying it is very close to the CO but with a bit more bass and a bit less brightness. So my question is whether it makes sense to have both the CO and CC, or if they are so similar that it doesn't make sense to have both. I found having both Atriums to be worthwhile, but not both Verites.

They definitely sound different, but share lineage. I view them more as siblings than identical twins. I can't speak for everybody at ZMF that's worked shows, but when I've given demos, it's been fairly common for users to prefer one or the other when directly compared, but there were plenty of folks that liked them both. Like the AO vs AC, VO, vs VC, I think users will end up figuring out for themselves if they want the open version, the closed version or both. But, like most things in hi-fi, I'll be a little bit surprised if there is a consensus.

I'm most curious how it compares to the AC and Bokeh, my current two favorites. I'm sure it will out-resolve them easily, but will it be as engaging and musical as well? That's the question I'm most eager to find out.
Exactly the question (comparison) I’m most interested in as well!

Caldera Closed is in the house! Shedua Wood! I hope to spend many hours with them over the next 5-6 days and then start to share my impressions as I get to know them even deeper. Hopefully through my words, you can have a good idea of what they sound like.

Wow. Those look amazing too. But I can’t help but wonder what a black and white ebony or Macassar would look like 🤤

Interesting- Shedua is a mid-hardness wood, similar in density to Ash and White Oak. And, obviously, it looks amazing! (I personally prefer the Queensland Maple though 😍)

Might be my favourite looking CC so far, although the choice is always nearly impossible. :)

Those are my favorite so far of the CC units. Love the grain and overall look. Pure wood porn!

All these CC pics are making me excited for the upcoming release! I'm curious what people are amping their CCs with? My best amp is a Stratus, and it's got a lot of power for dynamics, but not sure if it can get the most out of planars. I don't have any high end solid state amps currently, the best being my Jot 2.
