thanks so much!

oh yea, Zachi sent me his spreadsheet. it's awesome, obivously :)

I'm currently using the Brimar 13D1 and can choose between 25V and 12V for gain on single input tube. So assume I use 12V setting for dual 6J5 with adapter?

now, just need to hunt those down... any specific 6J5 tube you like most?
The 6J5 need to be run at 6 volts. Switch to that setting on your amp. The adapters run the 6J5s in parallel so they each see 6V.

My favorite is the GEC L63 ST shape with the spiked micas (usually gray glass but clear can be found too). Close second is the 1930's-era engraved base Raytheon 6J5G. Sometimes they're labeled Philco or Sylvania but they were made by Raytheon. Two different plate styles were made and I enjoy them both pretty much equally.

Lookie here, I think side-by-side Glenn's are a rare site. I recently picked up this 10-tube SS-rectified Glenn and am looking forward to tube-rolling it and comparing it to my current 4-tube tube-rectified Glenn. Two on the table, one will go on to a better home - I'm just not sure which one yet. I finally got the tube-rectified one into a great place and found some near-silent.

For those with 4 or 6 power tube spots, a question - could I use a pair of 6ASG7s AND a pair of 6080s? I know I could use 2 pairs of 6080s or 2 pairs of 6AS7Gs, but can I use a pair of each?

Looks like you’re using the Sophia Electric Aqua II 274B, is that right? I put one in my JEL 6SL7 Phono pre (batt biased) and it sounds dee-lish!

I wish I could be involved in the discussion but Glenn has had my amp for 4 years now and I don't think I am ever getting it back. :disappointed:
I pray that Glenn is still among us—thriving even! I also pray that the universe will send you a blessing that more than compensates both the amp and the experience.

That’s right, it sounded great on my previous Glenn, the one with tube rectification. But my current Glenn uses solid state rectification so the Aqua II is relegated to the shelf these days. It sounds nice in my Stratus, just not as nice as my Miniwatt GZ34. I recently tried the EML Mesh in there too but it was too sizzly up top for my tastes.

My latest tube combo for the Glenn is 2 x Telefunken Cg3, 4x Thompson 6080s and 2x Brimar 6J5G’s.

Recently I picked up a pair of Japanese NEC 12RLL3. This tube is pin-compatible with the 12A*7 family. It has a center tap and can be configured to run in both 6V and 12V circuits. However, the Amplification Factor is 30, compared to the 12AU7 (20) and the 12AT7 (60).

I'm running it with a Cossor 53KU rectifier and an old pair of Svetlana 6N5S (1958). Sounds good! :)
