unfortunately I could not and I got so angry, that I sold my kidney and got myself TungSol 5998
Definitely no need to get angry, now you have both (1 Tungsol 5998 and 1 kidney) :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Hope you're not planning on buying an amp which requires a pair of those tubes though🤞

Any regrets on selling the kidney for the TungSol ?
Have you paired it with something else since.
If you find a decent 5998... Cats Meow ..

Speaking of which, they need a New Production 5998. That would be quite something....

Were you able to sort out your Thompson 6080 tube? Oddly that is one tube I had never had the chance to try. I always wondered if that was a light and airy kind of tube like the Svetlanas but in a 6080 version. But then again, I am just unfairly and illogically associating the French tube with famous light and airy French pastries.
I love this 6080 tube! By far, it is definitely my favorite power tube. Never had any problems with this one and NO humming issues.

.... who is "they"? 🤔
I mentioned the Apos Ray 6SN7 new production tube that is getting a lot of attention on the front page. They is Apos audio...someone suggested they need to make a 6AS7 new production tube. I just want them to go straight to the top and why not replicate one of the most sought after tubes.

That's the price for a pair. Isn't that when you know its "Premium"? Probably trying to elevate that tube similar to a 300b tube pricing.
There is a lot of chatter that the Apos 6SN7 is made by PSVane and just rebranded. I am only passing on what I've read on some other threads, and can neither confirm or deny this myself. But if I was thinking about buying some of those, I would dig in on the research and try to determine if the chatter is true. Nothing at all wrong with PSVanes (in fact the couple I have are very nice tubes), just that if Apos is simply rebranding and then charging 3x the price, well, let's just say I wouldn't be real impressed.

So IF this were true, buying an APOS 6SN7 is the equivalent of buying a new car with "window" etching and "rustproofing" the undercarriage fees and added services.

So Apos may have given the Psvane 6sn7 a sexy frosted window tint and marked it up 300%. LOL :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
