Lately I've made a couple of builds that I've been extremely pleased with - they are very comfortable and balanced for me soundwise - and at the same time I've been very aware that they sound very different to the buds I've bought before: FF5, RW3000, FF3.

So when I showed them to some of my friends locally, I wasn't very surprised that they immediately liked the RW3000 better. I was a little disappointed though.

Here is one of them. It is the bassy brother. I think it sounds a lot like the Yinman but a bit brighter.

They didn't like the sound or the looks vs the RW-3000?

Hi! Again me🤣! My new build. I just re-used the drivers and cable from qkz mdr earbuds ( i love the shells) and put them in a mx500 shell. I re-tuned a little, and they not sound bad. Ofc the drivers are not so good as 130 ohm Berrylium, but they sound good, expecialy for that price. Jus the cable is not so good, but perfect for my children. And because i have a lot of them, my friends will be happy too.

They didn't like the sound. Mind you, they only listened for a moment, and I don't know what music they were listening to. Also I don't think they were trying to volume match at all. So thinking back, it might easily have been the fact that the rw-3000 was much louder at the same power levels.

For me it was probably just a moment of "oh.... they don't like my stuff....." instant of shock that wiped any analytical thoughts out of my mind :k701smile:

This is the other of the two DIY buds I've been very pleased with.

This is the brighter brother. It is very vocal forward, and excels at highlighting the texture of sounds that might otherwise sound flat, like the droning guitars in a lot of Smashing Pumpkins songs. I also love how it presents drums. It keeps the detail and drum emphasis, but removes harshness, leaving the clear timbre of the drum.

It’s very humbling to get someone’s opinion of your tuning. Now, if you tuned them to their specific listening prefs, they’d be very happy. Lol.

Edit: Very nice 2nd build, I’m sure they sound great.
