So what do you drop on the card to update? I downloaded the file but which one, when opening, do you use? Then do you push two buttons at once? I have so many devices I can't remember the sequence for all of them. :^)

Put update.zip on a FAT only SD card. Insert card in. Press Power button while holding home button. See logo, release. Wait until process is finished.

Let me know if it worked for you because it didn't for me (1.084 is the first one that failed).

So the folder that is on the desktop but inside is no update zipped file, as I got for the last update. Well I remember now. with your mention of the home key and on button but the download doesn't open up with a update zip file. . . .
 
I went to the thread mentioned and am redownloading the file from HiFiman on the Chinese site. 
 
Ok, same file but for some reason, after unzipping, I am not getting the "update.zip" file. Not sure what I am doing wrong as I have updated the 901 before. So I am not getting the update zip to drop onto the card.

Don't unzip the file. Just copy the "update.zip" file to the root of the SDHC card.

Yea, before I got an "update.zip" but now I don't get that. I get an "update" folder on my desktop with so zip files inside and some other files but none are the update.zip.

I've just updated to 1.84 from 1.82. Used update.zip from hifiman.com download.
Everything was OK for the first time, shows 1.84 kernel 3.0.
