iFi Audio Asks... What (Product) Should We Make Next?

I am using your enhancers iSilencer and iPurifier for ethernet and digital connections. Would love to see you develop one for HDMI connections.
Would this be for HDMI "Video" purposes, or more towards the I2S end of the scale, or both? As an example like streaming from a "Shield TV" type unit.

Cheers!!

Please check this technology out for licensing. He claims to be able to rebuild the original wave form.....not a good facsimile of a sampled wave form. And this makes every single source from streaming to Youtube to CDs, etc sound absolutely analog. They make and license their own chips to do the number crunching. See if iFi can do something similar or how this all works. This is company is the new MARK LEVINSON company (he can't use his own name because Harmon Int'l owns his name branding). From what I can tell, it's a game changer for the entire industry.

It would be for streaming from a Shield TV type of unit, my X-Box, my Sony Blue Ray player and my Zidoo Media player. The only way you can get spatial audio/atmos is through HDMI. The HDMI cable is carrying both an HDR/4K video signal and a lossless audio signal crammed into one cable. Compare that to two channel stereo through spdif or even USB, it is a LOT more data. Their is nothing in the market place to address this that I am aware of other than a variety of HDMI cables, but no enhancers. I feel its the weak link in the chain. Receivers these days usually have 2 coax inputs, 2 optical inputs, and usually a minimum of 4 HDMI inputs and at least two HDMI outputs for your video monitors.. It is the most used cable in a home theater/immersive audio setup and an iFi enhance would fill the weak link in the digital connection chain.

I second the DAP idea, too many smartphones these days that have good specs often lack any kind of beneficial features for music (Audio jacks, expandable storage, dac/amps).

I see people are conflicted about it having android or not but I wonder if its possible to have a dual boot feature that both has android and a stock ifi player app, so for example when you turn it on while having the hold switch in the on position, it would bypass android and boot into a simple music player.

I’d like to see a series of DAC/Amps that are sleek (few buttons) just 3.5mm, 4.4mm,USB-C and maybe a button. Keep the rest software controlled from your phone this is your killer and snappy UI. (Think the Qudelix phone app with EQ). A big must is an SD slot so you can have lossless sound with wireless control.

With a solid app, you can build different models of players for different use cases. Want an ultra portable music player, but don’t need much power? bring back the iPod shuffle. Need a mid-if dap? Make it DX170 sized and add a larger amp and battery,
Want a transportable? Add SPDIF and RCA ports and you have a Hugo2/2go combo.
Need a desktop, sure you can do that and for those who use the SD, they don’t need a transport device and they get EQ.

For those that need to stream, they can use Bluetooth codecs or a USB connection. But the bonus is that you can use the device with any of your other apps and it doesn’t need to run them on the music device.
For me personally, I’d like a device around the size of a ibasso DX170 with about 300-600mw of power and a battery to last 12 hours of play. Tooless user replaceable battery, Bluetooth, usb-c power/data.
The app needs to be a player first. I love UAPP for Android and Doppler for iOS. Maybe collaborate with them as they’ve already got the players with solid UI. UAPP already has Tidal integration perhaps others could be integrated too? Then use the player as a platform to send instructions to the DAC/Amp. The settings would be where you could play with the voltage, DSP, filters and firmware updates and all the stuff that iFi DAC/Amps have.
I could probably think of other stuff, but this is too long anyway.
Good luck finding a new product!

What ever you make next p!ease spend more time in QC.

Make sure it can be upgrade without any issues wireless upgrades should be your goal.
Make a proper APP for the device. And p!ease make it where it can be get from the app portal from android or ios.
Used standard test for power ratings and be open about it. None of this magic test that gives you billions of power.
Use better batteries or make the device easier to replace the battery.

And include Xbass.

That's not a bad solution, but the market is already filled with DAPs. CD transports, hm, not so much.
Only Shanling and SMSL offer something interesting (and affordable).
I was rooting for a transport (except a washing machine :) )

Perhaps next time, CD transport.

Cheers!

I only meant DAP one in terms of mentions, I have passed on the results to those in Higher Places for their digestion.

Perhaps I should start one asking about DAPS vs. separate DAC/AMP combo, I'll explain...

I love the idea of a DAP, but I honestly think separate units are the way to go, I personally have an Android phone only for this purpose, it houses no SIM card Wifi only, and I like to be able to just add different pieces of gear to it, for different times and tastes, lol

Thanks for speaking up!

Cheers!!

CDs are in general outdated, I don't know why companies started pushing CD transports. CDs can be ripped and then you can use a DAP or a computer to play them without the inconvenience of having to handle the physical media.

Some of us enjoy handling the physical media and reading the booklets’ contents. Good vibes
