Introducing Shanling UA3 - Our first Portable USB DAC/AMP with brand new generation of AKM DAC!

What do you mean my unclean output? I had an issue with my UA3 producing lots of static on a Raspberry Pi, placing the device in UAC 1.0 mode resolved it. Try holding down the multifunction (middle) button while plugging it in. The light will change to red confirming the mode.

Outside of that, you can try updating the firmware to the latest version and fiddling with the settings in the Eddict Player app on your android phone.
Unclean means ear piercing sharpness and it gives fatigue also headache. Latest version Updated and I tried it with multiple devices but the issue still there. Also tried 1.0 mode , installed ua line drivers but nothing worked for me.

I think it's a problem with This model UA3 because sometimes it works fine and the sound was amazing ,clear and non fatiguing.
Shanling should fix this issue in next firmware update.

Using neutron with Shanling UA3 and it I see a lot of volume headroom compared to UAPP. just curious what's going on there.

Whenever L and R volume adjustment is allowed separately from the master volume, UAPP will set them to -18dB for hearing protection. I had the same problem before clearing it up with them. Go to "Hardware Vol" option and max out the L and R volume.

Yes, can confirm this behavior of UAPP with some of our UA models. Best to open the more detailed volume settings and check they are set correctly at maximum.

My Shanling UA3 gives very unclean output which leads to headache with Redmi note 11 and also same with Dell laptop. Replaced one unit but the same issue is with new unit. Please help.

Please what headphones you using? And what playback software?

"Piercing sharpness" is more like individual description of sound, bit problematic what exactly you mean. Do you have any other USB dongles you are comparing it to?

Today my UA3 suddenly giving clean output on Laptop but issue will happen again maybe tomorrow. I think this can be the firmware issue but not sure. When it malfunctons it's sound is like reduced soundfield and worst annoying output than my Android (Redmi note 11) it causes ears to pain.
Headphones I use: Moondrop starfield, Astrotec Vesna evo, Soundmagic e80c.
Source:1) Dell Inspiron 3501 windows 10: Groove music, Foobar 2) Redmi note 11 : Poweramp, Eddict player, Sony's Music center app etc.
My UA3 never Sounded clean on Android.

I know it's not defective unit because I have replaced it once and previous unit also had same issue.

On your phone, can you please test it with HiBy music player or USB Audio Player Pro? They are able to work easier with USB DACs, avoiding the Android resampling.

Tried those apps but nothing worked for me. It's giving that bad output again. 3.5mm jack of my Laptop and Redmi note 3 gives more cleaner output than UA3.

Have you tried putting the UA3 into low power mode with the Eddict Player app?

Also, do your SoundMAGIC E80C earbuds have an inline mic? (Maybe try some different headphones with a standard 3.5mm or 4.4mm jack?)

Shanling UA3 bad sound Fixed

Found the cause and I Got solution
The main culprit behind it was my Laptop.
Windows 10 automatically installs drivers when user connects device like External Dac or smartphone.
I turned off automatic driver installs then installed Shanling UA line drivers.
Now my UA3 works Very Good on Android and Laptop both .
UA3 has better sound quality as compared to my previous DAP Shanling M0.

No, UA3 has no support for in-line microphones.

Does the Eddict app have a 10 band equalizer like the Shanling music app? I'm in need of a dongle, as I got a new, non LG phone for the 1st time in many years. Don't want to go the Bluetooth route. I absolutely adore both my M6 Pro original and M8. The house sound with the AKM chips is definitely my cup of tea. I don't think this dongle will appropriately drive some of my headphones, so I'm also looking at Hiby. Unfortunately Hiby uses ESS, and I've never been a fan. Is this device pretty much plug and play with android devices? It will used exclusively for watching movies and series.

Eddict player has the same EQ as Shanling Music.

For Android phones, on most of them it's just plug n play, some might have hidden USB OTG switch you need to enable.

Okay, so I can just plug it into my phone and start watching movies? I have terrible WiFi at the moment, and I'm not looking to fine tune anything. I trust your tuning and design that I won't need to tweak or adjust - it's just for movies, not music. I want to go this route instead of a pair of wireless headphones, so I can use my current wired cans. Is there anything else I must do before using it?

If your phone works fine with USB DACs, the UA3 should be just plug-n-play
