Paulus XII
Formerly known as FW214b
Today finally came to the conclusion that the difference in SQ from 3.34b to 3.4 is not subtle, but night and day. Now YMMV, but personally I'm very impressed. In fact there's "wow's" and more "wow's" from many stuff that said me little with previous FWs.
Takes some time to adapt though.

Support for this unit ended with a nice bang. I had been hoping for a sound signature more like the x3 gen two and FIIO delivered.

I have to agree about the sound. But I can see some people not liking it as much as we do due to aggresive treble.

On the contrary, I've found that the treble is smoother than v3.34b. The bass loses a bit of slam on v3.4....YMMV

I find it smooth too, but some have told me it's agressive. We all hear differently or are less sensitive to treble.

I totally agree with you Paulus XII, it might also be influenced by the headphones and IEMs we're using for comparison, not to mention the different IEM tips and insertion depth also

On the bass vs. treble discussion with 3.4 we are kind of like the 3 bears. Papa bear says its too cold.....mama bears says its too hot.....baby bear sez play more music ...

Wavering between 3.4 and 3.4b...managed to adjust the setttings to allow bass to shine- treble set at +3 on 3.4b, now +1 on 3.4. Now the bass is closer to what it was in terms of presence and impact.
Soundstage is noticeably wider now, and separation is improved as well.

I have had my X3 in the backpack for months now, and was primarily using it for its coax out to my desktop DAC. Got upgrade 3.4 and WOW, it is perfect. So much clearer, better instrument separation, its like a whole new product. I love bass but for me, clarity always comes first. Because of that, I never really enjoyed the X3. Now, its time to buy a 128gb microsd and enjoy another few years with this amazing sound!!!
Listening with some custom JH-13/16 CIEM's made by Unique Melody (if that helps)

It's a shame that fiio didn't want to fix double albums in category mode.
Or is it just for me that it don't work

Well, maybe now that the first gen X3 is discontinued, Fiio might be a bit more willing providing the info required to get Rockbox running on it?

Hi, the first picture shows the Album when going access "Category" on your X3, and the other 2 shows the songs in the "Browse files", right? So the songs from "1-01" to "1-13" and from "2-01" to "2-04" belongs to different albums, but all of them are categorized to the same album?
Not sure your meaning, and it will be better if you can provide more details. Thanks in advance.
