SRH1540, PM-3, ATH-MSR7B, K550/553, or K371?
Hi all. Looking for a new (to me) set of closed cans approximately in the $150-250 range (I could MAYBE stretch to $300 if there’s one that’s much better than the other options at $150-250). I’m very open to used cans, and really prefer the increased bang for the buck of buying gently used audio...- pinkfloyd4ever

What's a very comfortable, budget-friendly over-ear closed can with good isolation?
Caveat 1: can't be something that's bass-heavy like most in the category tend to be. Caveat 2: needs to be available for $200 or less. I'm ok with going to the used market. I already have the DT770 Pro 80ohm, just wanting to try something else. Thanks, Kevin- pinkfloyd4ever

How would you do this? (debating 2 simple non-audio DIY PC fan speed control designs)
Ok so I know this isn't audio related, but I figured the EE's here would have the best answer. So I've recently started homebrewing (which has pretty much overtaken audio as my main hobby) and I'm building a magnetic stir plate for yeast starters. I've seen two approaches, both of which are...- pinkfloyd4ever

Paypal: reverting from Premier account back to a Basic account
anyone know how to do this or if it's possible? I looked for it on their site, but of course they don't exactly advertise how to do it, since they get less money from you when you have the standard account- pinkfloyd4ever

The fan on my graphics card is going out. Should I worry about the graphics processor overheating?
...I don't do any gaming, 3D rendering, or anything else that would be considered graphics-intensive. My monitor is an Acer X193w (a 19" widescreen LCD) *please excuse the double-posted thread. I realized how much more traffic the Members Lounge gets after I posted in the Gear-Fi non-audio...- pinkfloyd4ever

the fan on my graphics card is going out, what should I do?
Ok so I have an old-ass computer. Dell XPS Gen 3 from December 2004. Several months ago I started hearing a alot of noise from a fan, and eventually figured out that it was the fan on my graphics card (which is an ATI Radeon X800 XT). Then it (the fan) seemed to start working fine again for a...- pinkfloyd4ever

anyone got 4 extra TO-220 shoulder washers they can send me?
of course I'll pay you for them & shipping costs. Someone in the US would be preferable, cause I'd like to get them ASAP. I'm fixing a burned up buffer on a Millett Max that I built, and I'm using a different output BJT type as the ones I originally put on there. The original ones didn't have...- pinkfloyd4ever

who's used a Millett Max as a preamp for a Gainclone?
And how do you like it compared to other preamps/volume controls you've used with a gainclone? I've decided to go with a gainclone rather than a 41hz kit for my first real speaker setup. I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible (max $200 for the amp) so it'd be awesome if i didnt even have to...- pinkfloyd4ever

41Hz amp questions
Ok so I'm putting together my first real speaker setup, and it's gotta be on a budget since I'm a college student. I bought some Insignia bookshelfs and I have an Alien I plan to use for a source. I think I'm going to get the Amp 10, if I'm reading things correctly it's just an updated version...- pinkfloyd4ever

Interest Check: PPAS redesign?
Ok, for those of you who don't know, the PPAS is a surface mount (and very portable-the original PCB is about the size of a stick of gum!) version of the PPA. The original group buy for the PCBs was back in '06, and they're kind of hard to find nowadays. So just tonight FallenAngel and error401...- pinkfloyd4ever

tube socket drilling problems
UGGGHHHH so I'm trying to drill the pins out of the tube sockets for the Millett I'm building. I've done it before, and I won't say it was easy, but I got them drilled with less trouble than this. Anyway, I broke off a tiny (1/16") bit inside of the socket pin and now it seems like I'm dulling...- pinkfloyd4ever

anyone got a couple extra V-D 10k RN55 resistors?
I know this is technically WTB forum thing, but I figured it'd be seen alot more by the target audience here. Anyway I'm about to build a Millett Max and I wanna build it with the .65mA CCS, but Mouser is currently out of 10kohm RN55s till SEPTEMBER!! (when did we get all the new smilies...- pinkfloyd4ever

Vitamin Q questions
ok so I'm looking at getting some Vitamin Q's from L.A. Surplus electronics on ebay, and I have some questions. They're going to be used on Aliens and Milletts (for now anyway). wow, I didn't know it was possible to actually blow up an IC...
until I hooked up this little LED flasher thing we made in Circuits Lab to a 9v battery.... All it does is make that LED flash at a rate that you can vary with the pot. I was gonna rig it up to a 9v with a switch and put it on the dashboard of my car to make it look like I had some kind of...- pinkfloyd4ever

Mogami Neglex > Canare Starquad???
because, based on price, conventional logic would lead you to believe so, as Markertek sells Neglex for $.95 per foot and Starquad for $.42 per foot. The biggest difference I can see is in the shielding. For those who've had a lot of experience with both, does one sound better than the other...- pinkfloyd4ever

Alright guys, when you wanna meet? Let's try to get more than 3 people this time.
