No bloated bass with the Ori pads, and no joy with the Alpha pads.....

The Ori pads are very close to the Mr Speakers angled pads, Ori pads have more ear room, and don't bring the vocals as close as the Mr Speakers. I do use the Mr Speakers angled pads on my fully Lawton modded D5000, D7000 and THX00, work best on those. Ori pads on the HE6 just more comfort and...

You might give ZMF Ori pads a try, I found them to perform very well on my HE-6...........

Do I need drivers if I don't use the USB?

I reterminated mine with mini xlr for Audeze/ZMF, but HD800 termination may be very difficult because of the wire gauge, and four wires to each connector.

You need the converter you have linked, or similar.

My pair had clicking in the left cup, no music playing, or with music playing, but the problem is a mechanical build problem. They are going back to Massdrop. Same issues were noted with some Elear and even Utopia.

Got the adapters for the 12B4A's. Trying to get initial impressions using my Denon/Fostex w/Lawton mods and cups. Noticed so far, bass has tightened up, more pop and texture on the low end. Also, more detailed than the Tung Sol 1626, in my setup. don't think I will be going back to the 1626...

The perforated pads and fenestrated pads all have too much suck out, making the HE-6 sound thin. Only headphones that perforated pads sound good are the Autuer.

Mine are Tung Sol NOS, 1960's. Currently one of my headphones are Kennerton Vali, most bass I have ever heard on an open back dynamic. The 12B4A are supposed to emphasize the low end. My fear would be too much low end, but that may help the HD800/800S.

What mfg tubes did you get? I ordered a matched pair of Tung Sol from a seller a few miles north of here. Too bad the wait for the adapters is three weeks.

When it comes down to cables, spend your money wisely. Trust your own ears, there is no real proof of what conductor/material does what to the sound, just opinions by many, that may help their bottom line.
