Firmware 1.2 allows me to change volume while screen off, but not changing songs

It should be left as it is as update.upt on root, not inside any folder. Update can be executed using player's update menu. As for how update.upt should be copied is not an issue. I have an otg card reader and I copied the update file from smartphone to my micro sd.

If you don't mind sharp edges and corners, I think you should give T6 a go. Regardless the usage, it supports high res music like dsf, flac, alac and also more powerful chip for better sound reproduction and faster library processing.

That sounds about right, a pair of bluetooth earpiece with control buttons will do. Plus, a bunch of suitable tunes for every mood could be arranged via playlist(s).

Correct me if i'm wrong fat32 can handle up to 4gb of single file. I don't think size is the issue. Rodgers in Celtic, right? And please avoid wav if possible, large size and no id tag support. Flac and alac are, imho, preferable in terms of size and manageability.
