Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP

I am eagerly awaiting the hiby rs6, as unfortunately there is no line out on R01 for my kse1200. By the way, has anybody paired the kse1200 with the R01 module, it is noisy or does the double amping cause issues, asking this since kse1200 is too sensitive, so much so that with most of the daps I have tried on it, the LO is always on low gain, otherwise the kse energizer starts distorting.

I have been a big N6ii fan, have owned and tried all the dacamp modules barring the R01, and had to sell it to make way for RS6 in the future, but if someone can tell me if it pairs well with the kse1200, I'll gladly pick it up again!! 😁😁
Not until I read your post.

Thanks a lot for your reply Andy. I've already tried A02 with Kse1200. Though I am more interested in knowing of R01 will work with kse1200 or not. I'll read up on what you shared for tye LO ander you know in case my query isn't resolved.

Thanks and regards,
Vishy

Listening now, sounds great, works great.

If you were to use C9 with N8, use high Line out setting.

If you look at the specification of N6ii Audio Motherboards, you'll find something the Value of different output level of line out setting. In general , HIGH is the de facto line out level (2-2.2V in SE, 4-4.4V in BAL), LOW is 50% of standard line out, and MID is 75%.

The original specification of N8 didn't have this detail because configurable line out was added to the DAP at one of the firmware update.

Excellent!

thanks for this explanation, now i will try this settings 👍👍

Can you share your impression bro? Any harshness is treble? And how is the overall pairing?
Sounds like the morning breeze moving though the dew-dropped meadow grass, I can hear the morning lark singing its song in the distance.

Just joking, I don't do the "jargon"

Not a hint of harshness anywhere, great sound, it sounds like an R01 and a KSE1200, no hiss or anything like that, great soundstage. All sounds awesome to me.

M8 haven't timbre like E02 and especially R01. R01 sound are natural and smooth.

For me yes, because have natural sound, warm sound with amazing holographic. M8 are haven't timbre especially on mids, for me all vocals are boring, unnatural. High tones are better than R01, because are very detailed, but not edge. Bass in M8 have better impact and have faster.

Mean r1 is much better?
I had both for a time. I sold the M8. It's a special sounding dap, for sure, but it's tuning is love it or leave it. If you already know you like it, you might miss it when it's gone.

I personally loved the M8, but overall, the natural tuning, clarity, and analogue delivery of R01 is just how I like my music presented and won out.
I was r-2r converted in a couple days. For me, it was an 'aha' moment.

I only picked up the M8 again after that to keep testing and verifying why it was I was no longer using it for anything.
M8 bass attack is faster, but not as round and juicy. Its no contest on mids and treble. Hands down the Cayin wins.

The R01 tuning meshed with MEST better too, iirc.

Seems many leaning towards the r-2r module
Really want to hear the sound from this module.
Would it really blown out like what mest MK2 does? 🤔

Either one. But only one lets you change dacs and amps and lets you try out all the major dacs relatively cheaply. Ha.
I listen to pop on the n6ii and edm on the m2. But it isn’t a hard and fast rule. If I still had the m8, I likely would use it for edm, but not anything vocal heavy.
