Just for kicks I threw a bid out a bid on ebay for a Ryzen 5600X3D for my secondary computer. It's mostly a curiosity to me, but I do kinda need something more than a 3600 for the 3080ti it's paired with. There are some games that are legitimately bottlenecked, even at higher resolutions.
If I end up losing the auction I'll hold off for the 5700X3D. At $250 it's going to be a killer deal, and AMD is an absolute champ for continuing to support AM4.
If I do win the auction I'll have overpayed a little bit, but it's well under the price I see other people asking. I'm seeing listings for like $300, which is outlandish considering you can get a new 5800X3D for $325.

i know X3D is the new hotness but i was getting 5800x and 5900x procs for what felt like stupid cheap a few months ago, something to consider.Just for kicks I threw a bid out a bid on ebay for a Ryzen 5600X3D for my secondary computer. they are still fast
Like my 5700X. Best cpu I have ever ownedi know X3D is the new hotness but i was getting 5800x and 5900x procs for what felt like stupid cheap a few months ago, something to consider.

nice! I pulled a 1200(g? x?) out of service and dropped that 5800x in, it literally HALVED my wait time on its most important task, best ~200 bucks i spent in recent memoryLike my 5700X. Best cpu I have ever owned
the 5900x is still on a shelf have not yet decided to swap it with an in-service 2700x or build another system around it - i have an older intel/asrock box that i do not entirely trust and maybe replacing it is the way to go. BTW never buy asrock if you like warranty service

It's just my secondary computer I have hooked up to my TV, so I don't do any heavy CPU stuff on it. I could go with a 5700X for $200, but the 5600X3D is only about $20 more if I win it, and would offer more than a 10% performance upgrade.
Value is kinda weird at the moment on AM4, especially with the looming 5700X3D and marked down high end stuff.
There's a 5800X3D bundle at Microcenter with mobo and 16GB ram now for $350

I initially lost the 5600X3D, since some lunatic offered to buy it for $270, but the guy never payed so it fell back to me for my price. Kinda excited to toy around with it.

Crazy good deal, mobo alone is like $170.

The upgrade from the 3600 to the 5600X3D is immediately obvious: I went from sub-60 FPS to 80FPS+ on Cyberpunk with path tracing RT.
The GPU utilization was about 60% when the CPU was pegged to 100%, with DLSS having no real effect on framerate. Now I even have some wiggle room on the CPU; the generational upgrade is pretty impressive, core-for-core.

Man, I love that game so much. I have 400+ hours in it.

Same on both counts! I've run through it 6 or so times; I even loved it right at launch.
I usually use the game to test new hardware because it really leverages CPU and GPU better than any other game on the market. I'm actually super irritated the devs are moving to Unreal Engine, which has historically been trash for utilizing hardware.

So there's a hack going around that lets you use FSR3 frame generation in DLSS3 titles using RTX20/30 series cards.
I figured I'd give this a try on my laptop, as it's getting a little long in the tooth. Running on an RTX 2070 Max Q, with medium RT I couldn't get 60FPS before. Now I get well over 60.
There's some visual weirdness from time to time, but it's overall pretty convincing. The added bonus of using this is you aren't limited to FSR for upscaling; you can use DLSS or even XeSS if you want to.
Maybe if this gets more popular Nvidia will finally be compelled to open up DLSS3 to all RTX cards. (We all know it's an artificial limitation, anyway.)

Update on my pc black screen and restarting randomly. It was my exhaust fan all along. After getting it replaced, no more black screens or random restarts. I Know I see a lot of posts about people with such issues, and now I know it can be anything that causes it, including a bad fan in the case. I'm so relieved this issue is no more.
My PC runs like a champ now, after replacing the fan, and the crappy stock CPU fan it had on it. 4070 TI was a worthwhile investment that I'm really reaping enjoyment right now, without paying much more money for higher tier. My 4070 TI to 55 inch OLED is just great setup for gaming. It's good setup for a while until I switch over to another system at some point.
