The backside of the transducer is identical, but the coil of the S2 is copper coloured, while the 660S had a blue coil.Hi ,
I am about to buy used hd660s2 for a really good price that seems too good to be true , how can I verify that the actual drivers are from hd660s2 and not swapped with 660s ?
Can someone upload a picture of hd660s2 drivers ?
Thank you.

I think you are better off running from a good sound card such as the one from EVGA for example or directly from your integrated amp or AV receiver.any one here with the k7? i am really excited getting it

What would be wrong with the K7? I would think it is perfectly capable of audible transparency and have enough power for the 660S2.
The 660S2 will never need more than a few tens of mW to reach ear-shattering levels. Acctualy, 20 mW of the highest quality is all you"ll ever need to make them shine (very loudly too). Quality starts from a high quality DAC which will already make a very audible difference with any HD-6## headphone. It is preferable to spend for very high signal quality than for very high power that you"ll never use. Unless you are planing to own a power hungry planar headphone in the future, the power of the K7 is totally unnecessary. Either way, a much better DAC must be a priority.
Even with the HD-650 the quality between budget DACs ($ 100-150) and a fine example at $ 500 or $ 1000 one is clearly audible.

There are so many options out there the selection can be rather staggering. Filo does make some descent entry stuff that doesn't break the bank and I quite enjoyed a portable music player from them... so, depending on what you were using previously the K7 may be fine, enjoy.any one here with the k7? i am really excited getting it
Mid you it's all relative....but after you've been in the hobby long enough ones ears do eventually, hopefully, get educated to the minor intricacies and detail, and higher end and better made equipment can be justified.. much to the chagrin of your pocket book.

I believe the biggest caveat quite often ignored when focusing on what dac chip is implemented is the supporting power supply and the analogue amplification output circuity, ($$$$), otherwise any quality digital to analogue conversion IMHO is all for naught.Either way, a much better DAC must be a priority.

Indeed! Ben Zwickel of Mojo Audio, whose DACs are R2R, espouses this credo. The EVO Mystique DAC (pro level) weighs over 35 lbs as a result !!I believe the biggest caveat quite often ignored when focusing on what dac chip is implemented is the supporting power supply and the analogue amplification output circuitry ($$$$), otherwise any quality digital to analogue conversion IMHO is all for naught.

So in other words, it’s actually a single source preamp with an internal dac board.Indeed! Ben Zwickel of Mojo Audio, whose DACs are R2R, espouses this credo. The EVO Mystique DAC (pro level) weighs over 35 lbs as a result !!

Funny, just this morning I just acquired a Bryston B60R integrated (not single source), no DAC but similar design philosophies. The preamp and power amp are connected by jumpers so can be used independently, in my case to run my surrounds and some headphones.
