Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
Quote: It's a killer, and right at the time I'm in the market for an end-game* balanced dac (just finished my balanced-only beta22 build). Matrix mini 'rental' will have to plug the gap ;/ * like this hobby ever has an end-game- gh0st0

Lite DAC-83 - any thoughts?
thanks for the suggestion. That does look nice, but AmpCity list the 7.1 now for £1200. I'm pushing it with £1k tbh, can't afford to 20% over budget Quote:- gh0st0

Lite DAC-83 - any thoughts?
thanks guys. @szadzik as far as I can tell, the Octave isn't balanced, so that's out for me, I've implemented my beta22 as balanced input/output only. With regard to AmpCity, they may be a touch expensive, but they are offering a UK-based warranty and a 30-day trial period, which for me...- gh0st0

Lite DAC-83 - any thoughts?
I've been looking for a sub-1000GBP DAC to pair up with my LCD2r1 and newly DIYed balanced beta22 and my search has led me as far as the Lite DAC-83, although I'm finding impressions on it incredibly scarce. There's a review by John Darko on Digital Audio Review, but apart from that... radio...- gh0st0

Luxman DA-200 or W4S Dac-2 - Need help finding the right DAC
I'm in a similar predicament @AppleheadMay - I'm probably leaning towards the Lavry, if only because I'm interested in the digital crossfeed implementation, but I'm going to hold out to see what Schiit have in store with their mid-tier and statement DACs in the new year.- gh0st0

Schiit DACs (Bifrost and Gungnir down, one to go)? The information and anticipation thread.
Quote: Any indication as to why it wouldn't work with some DACs? On paper SBT has coax and optical SPDIF outputs for 16/24bit and the usual compliment of sample rates, so.... doesn't seem to be any reason in principle it wouldn't be fine with Bifrost.- gh0st0

lucky number #8 w/USB. I believe that 8 is a lucky number in China... which I'm thinking is a sign that I should also be ordering HE-500. If you try hard enough you can convince yourself of anything ;)- gh0st0

Is there a "perfect" Headphone for the Genres Rock / Metal ?
x2 on good source for the LCD-2, especially for scope of the soundstage and placement of instruments. I spent years looking for a system that could keep up with the wide bandwidth and speed of metal, I owned SR325is and DT880, then upped my financial commitment and auditioned lower-end...- gh0st0

Nope, but I do have one for sale ;) and it is a beast, drives the LCD-2 like a train with tons of refinement. http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/547143/fs-musical-fidelity-m1-hpa-uk- gh0st0

Schiit Lyr Shipping! Impressions?
Mine hums into my LCD-2, not affected by the volume level and equal in both channels. Two changes of tubes and a cheater plug made no difference. To be honest though, it's inaudible when any music is playing, even in the quietest passages, so I'm not sweating it.- gh0st0

Schiit Lyr Shipping! Impressions?
Lyr just arrived after it's trip across the Atlantic, and I'm up schiit creek with 6 watts of paddle Simply put, I'm loving this amp with the LCD-2. It really works well with their bass capability without letting it get out of control, or losing definition, and the mids and highs manage...- gh0st0

Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-2
Can't wait to get my Lyr (should be shipped at the end of the month) so I can pitch it against my Musical Fidelity M1 HPA. The LCD-2 already sound *amazing* with the M1, and doesn't feel underpowered at all (volume pot goes 7 o'clock round to 5 o'clock, normal volume for me with the LCD-2...- gh0st0
