Anyway managed to get the computer to accept it but unfortunately the new firmware install made no difference. Not sure how my hardware is different from anybody else’s, if not firmware then what?
Sorry for not understanding but you got hold of a Windows PC or you installed it somehow using your MAC, I ask because I thought we had folks here try that with no success.

Also remember that with the last settings issue anytime you make any change to anything and the unit resets, "all" defaults will be returned.

As an experiment get it set to what you like and leave the unit on for a day to see if your settings change on you. If they did PM me your ticket Number and I will see what else we can do.

Cheers!!

I managed to convince my work PC to run the exe after some messing with the antivirus. Mac would need an emulator which I don’t have. As before I set the filter to GTO, it played fine, switched it off and back on and although still set to GTO there is no sound at all until moved to another filter setting. I mean the workaround is simple but I kinda liked the GTO sound.

Ok, I understand now. When you did the reflash what version of the firmware did it take you back to? If You remember by chance.

Thanks,

Cheers!!

Sadly this did not work. Ifi support are talking about returning the unit which seems a bit drastic. I find it strange that this could be a hardware fault. The new firmware was 2.15.17 seems to work OK apart from the same issue with GTO.
Sorry to hear that but I would advise following support instructions.

Since I posted yesterday I set mine to GTO filter and just checked it and this state did not change despite being powered off for a full day, so they may be right in saying something else may be off and to return the unit. I don't ever remember this setting not holding for me as well.

Hopefully, it will be a quick turnaround for you and you won't have this issue anymore.

Cheers!!

Well it’s not that it doesn’t hold , just that there is no sound. Yeah hopefully they will address.
I am sure they will, sorry for any inconvenience here.

Cheers!!

I have the same problem that explain chriswelsby. When i use the analog output, and the GTO filter is selected, there is no sound if i play a song. But if i select another filter turning the volumen, then the song start sounding.
I am using the 2.15.17 firmware versión, and i have to probe 2.16 that is the last one.

Wow I am not alone. You describe the fault perfectly. Sadly updating the firmware will not fix it as I did that and no change. I did observe that this happens with uPnP and mconnect and Tidal connect but NOT Airplay with Qobuz. Might be worth opening a ticket so they know I’m not the only one.

I suppose the question is, what are we doing different to everyone else? I use Wi-Fi with mconnect to play Qobuz songs from an iPhone XR.

In my case it happens to me with tidal connect and with Roon.I use ethernet, no wifi
I believe that most people use the Ifi Neo Stream with an external DAC.
And those two conditions have to be met, using the analog output (that is, the Neo Stream's DAC) and having the GTO filter selected. It would be nice if another colleague could try it.
