Bicycle-Fi!

I've been meaning for 5+ years to get a GoPro and after an amazing night right last week I finally got a GoPro Hero 11 Black. I know very little about "action cameras" but I know GoPro is the standard.

I'm a mountain biker but ride on the pavement in the winter time. This was my first 4k test. On GoPro you can embed how fast you were going in the video with a little meter but for some reason that feature glitched on this ride. Still working on optimal settings I have only had the GoPro a couple days. Wearing the AKG N400s:

The video looks WAY better locally before YouTube compression kicks in, I was in absolute shock when I saw how good the default 5k footage looked on an IPS monitor. IMO 5k 30fps is a bit much and not the best for biking footage.

4k60fps is a sweet spot and if I was going to go above that 5k isn't a big enough deal over 4k to make it worth while.

Yup, I have an old professionally calibrated NEC IPS (PA241W) that has remarkable colors and gradients, so I know exactly what you mean :)

If you gonna use GP while riding - don't make my mistake and invest into decent harness/helm mount. Shattered mine on one of the rocky trails few years ago, was kinda unlucky and it was old, but still :D
I know it might be a bit off-topic, but what shoes are you lads using for biking? Been thinking about trying some new ones(been eyeing inov8 trailfly ones from local store, I know those are running ones but that's what I'm usually riding in anyway).

Did the same while snowboarding. I had my camera fixed to the board. Lesson learned since then.

I filmed that with my chest mount. I've had enough injuries at this point that if I fall first thing I am going to do is try and fall in a way that protects my body. Can always get another GoPro serious injuries can be life altering.

I mean I didn't fall myself, my mount was kinda old and it just detached on a bump or something :D If you fall then definitely screw the camera, rather buy a new one than recover from injuries trying to save it!

The problem is that most of us want to instinctively save a smartphone/camera etc. when falling :D

I'm using a tiny discontinued clip bluetooth MP3 player that cost me like $20:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BJBJTMF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Does anyone have an alternative? If mine breaks I am not sure what to get. I like the clip a lot I clip it to my Camelbak, I found clips you can attach to MP3 players so that isn't a deal breaker.

I really want physical buttons, touch screens are terrible when you are wearing gloves and your hands are all sweaty. I tried using a touch screen MP3 player biking and gave up. Also bluetooth is a must.

Anyone else have anything they use they can recommend?

If you're after old affordable stuff that's tiny and with physical buttons, you may want to google Sansa Clip/+/Sport. I've used that DAP many years ago and was happy considering what it was. Hope this helps, thanks!

Price isn't really an issue I realize with inflation $20 for an MP3 isn't realistic but there are sooooo many touchscreen only players that cost $50-100. I found one that looked perfect was about to order it then I saw no bluetooth :frowning2: I got used to biking with no wires.

I guess my budget is up to $200? I could use my phone but I keep my phone safely in my backpack in case I fall and break my leg.

OK, I hope that no one will get mad for mentioning our own products, but if you're looking for a wireless tiny DAC/amp device, you may google our GO blu. It's tiny, wireless and powerful.
