Introducing Shanling H2 - Budget Portable DAC/AMP with Built-in Player
Feb 4, 2024 at 7:41 PM Post #91 of 124
Hi all! Maybe I've missed the relevant information in the specs, but I have a question for the possibility of a specific use scenario:
I'd like to use the H2 as a stationary SD card player by connecting it to a pair of active speakers through its USB port (with a USB-C to USB-B cable, as the Q Acoustics M20 have the latter as a digital input). Playback control will be from my phone (Edict App). Thus the H2 would act as a 'digital transport', am I correct? I don't even know if the afromentioned cable configuration actually exists, if not, I suppose I could use the usb-c to usb-a adapter to connect a usb-a to usb-b cable.
Any answer is much appreciated!
H2 doesn't have digital output.

But you can use our M0 Pro for this purpose, with the same playback from MicroSD card and control over SyncLink. Running digital output from M0 Pro to USB DAC.

Thank you for the info!
I've actually got the M0 and now I see it has a new firmware V3.4 that contains SyncLink support, I wonder if it'll work for full browsing.
Yes, it works for full browsing of the files on MicroSD card.

Does anyone have problems with interference in combination with their smartphone. I had the hip-dac 1 and the Hidizs DH80 and both had problems near the iPhone. I'm looking for a device that is battery operated and I would be interested in the H2

I find there is no interference while using it right next to my android phone.

Neutral wound be my description of the sound signature. I think I slightly prefer the up5 sound signature but I LOVE the SD card with all of my music. The eddict app doesn't quite stay connected over longer listening periods so going through the library when I want to change albums takes an extra step to connect in the sync link menu again. At the price this is an awesome all around device with a unique niche. I prefer it over a dap because I can easily use it as bt device for my podcasts and stuff without going through menus and all that.
Update this morning, on bluetooth I don't think i can tell the difference between the h2 and the up5 over bluetooth. it's possible there's a little more air or space to the music in the up5 but that's all i can tell. big win for the tuning on the h2 imo. add in the sd card and all is well at the price point. make sure you get the case too; dropping the thing is scary. not as bad as the all glass up5 but still
